Default Looking for LED installation recommendations

My wife and I have been building a rather interesting geodesic dome home over the last 23 years. We have lived in it for 21 of those years as it has been slowly finished.

We would love to incorporate LEDs into several of the final finish details including stairways, and plastered walls for both decorative and functional purposes.

I'm really seeking informed or inspired advice as to how one might mount LEDs in stair risers and plaster work. I have plastered a large portion of the house the old fashion way with "rock lath" and 1/4" layer of finish plaster. Is there a ready made piece that is availble to serve this function?

Lets hear what you creative types think.

Best Regards,

Hugh

SciGuy,

Welcome to CPF! I am not up to speed on any commercial LED luminares/fixtures. I know there are companies out there who are in development and maybe, production. The Louvre(sp?) museum in Paris recently went to LED lighting for the Mona Lisa. There are others here on the forum that are more knowlegeable on the subject, and your question would have more exposure in the LED board. (Clk's "Notify Moderator" button. I think someone may make MR16 type lamps with luxeons in them. That would be one good method of using LEDs with perhaps the least amount of work due to already designed fixtures and rails to mount them on.

Welcome to CPF, Hugh!

You can get LED strips for reasonable prices from SciLux near Dayton, Ohio. Call the number on the website and talk to Jim - he's an LED guru and a nice guy to boot!

These people make LED boat lights:

I haven't bought from them, but these people have some nice looking lights:

Have you used LEDs before?
