Infrared lamps for personal heating?

Hey guys

I'm toying with the idea of using infrared lamps for heating purposes. Eg putting them under a desk, etc...

First, where can I get them from?

Second, would say a 100w heat lamp do the trick?

Thirdly, from an efficiency standpoint, would I get the same amount of heat from an infrared lamp (or high wavelength) vs heating a 100W halogen light bulb?

Infrared heat lamps are a bit too dangerous IMO, as heat (light) from them continues on till it hits something and heats it up. If you ever touched something under an infrared lamp you hand gets hot very quick and everything under it is scorching hot. They could peel floor tiles up, melt finishes off wood floors like a high powered heat gun but slowly etc.

Go with a heater with a blower or use a blanket.
