In the midst of all our collecting and comparing, mods and updates, beam shots and runtime graphs, I'd like to slow down just a bit so that I can share with each and every one of you what is perhaps the most valuable flashlight I will ever own. This beauty was given to me by my middle son, purchased at the school's book fair with his own money. What can I say, the boy knows me well ...

And so, without further ado, I present the "DAD FLASHLIGHT".

Special as this gift is to me, it cannot compare to the small bits of my soul that my children help me rediscover on a daily basis … in-between their efforts to drive me stark raving mad.

I would use it sparingly around the house for a year and then tuck it and the original box away for safe keeping.

Give the boxed flashlight back to him on the first Father's Day that he is actually a father.
You may have to jog his memory a bit about how you got it in the first place but the fact that you kept it safe and sound all those years will mean more to him than words can describe.

Others may just see a old plastic flashlight but your son will see something that you thought was so special it was worth saving and carefully protecting for all those years while he was becoming a grown man and making his way in the world.

One of my earliest flashaholic memories is of an angle head military-style light like this that one of my childhood friends owned. I wanted one and never got one. Brings back some memories. I think I'll go buy a Pentagon Molle to get it out of my system.

I would use it sparingly around the house for a year and then tuck it and the original box away for safe keeping.
