show me your fork light mounts

How would one then mount a light into that? I can't quite imagine it.

that's a good design, but what's the advantage to that contraption over an undersided handlebar mount? the light is only going to be a few inches lower that the underside of the handlebars, where you could have a smaller, less obtrusive mount.

My handlebars don't run straight across. They angle downward a little bit. When I mounted the light to my handlebars, the beam never pointed straight ahead. it was either to the left or to the right. Plus, I use it to hold my phone, bell and anything else that I don't want to put in my bike bag.

I wonder about the nylon washer/spacer under your bracket. Was it just a need to move the bracket away from the headset or is it for you an optimal way of securing the bracket. Have you got already many miles with this and does it hold well?

The nylon spacer was used to keep the bracket from interfering with the lower headset cup. I actually replaced it with an aluminum spacer (strictly for aesthetics), and it's been working fine for over a year.

I've been looking for a fork mount too. I like the ingenuity of many of these DIY designs. Here are a couple other options I've dug up:

They also make it in a light gray and a longer barrel. I have 2 still in the package but that project is back burner for now. Cheap enough. Post 3 above is a close enough DIY interpretation.

Yes, although the version I was referring to, was found on another forum and used a doorstop IIRC. I'm binging on everything lights these days and if I forget bookmarking the page I have trouble finding it again :duh2:
