The driver has low voltage protection for a single Li-Ion cell.

Mac

Very nice.

There is not alert tho (like the HDS flash) to signal a low cell then? I hadn't heard anything before, but I thought I'd ask.

Can I ask the differences between a high CRI XPG vs the Nichia 219? Which is warmer? Brighter? I'm trying to decide which to get if they are both options.

The high CRI XPG will be much warmer. It is 3000k and is very noticeably much warmer than any neutral I have. It is warmer than my hotwire (overdriven incandescent) lights. I *really* like it but I can see that it is too warm for some.

Glad to see this thread has made some progress.

I'm having a heck of a time deciding between a neutral or high CRI emitter!! I have 2 high CRI lights now and 1 neutral...

For my Tri-EDCs I have three light engines. Neutral XP-G (4000k), high CRI XP-G (3000k), and XP-E (5000k). The high CRI engine is the only one I ever use now. I would like to try a Nichia 219 though.

If you could pick it by eye then you'd have some sort of lumen-measuring superpower.

It's not only about brightness, but about how much you can actually see.

Even with the hit you take going High CRI, you can see more. It at least I can, at any rate.

+1  Well said.

This agrees with my testing. The AW IMR 18350 gives a huge performance boost...especially when under a good load like 2.8a.
Thanks. I have already placed order for some IMR 18350 from AW himself. Now anticipating the arrival of my Nichia 219 Damascus Tri-EDC.

You put it in the PayPal comments to the sender

Are there additional charges for the GITD powder and crenelated options? If so, will they be in a separate billing considering that they are only to be placed initially at the PayPal comments section?

Here's a video I did on the Tri-EDC that I just received. I hope it's helpful for those who are interested in it.

http://youtu.be/hll4lfr_DjA?hd=1

You mentioned in the video that you were able to insert tritium vials in there somehow. I am very interested in this process. Are the pre-drilled posts mentioned come standard out of Mac's or were they options? What is the size of the vials? Please explain further.

Thanks!
