I'm looking for a nice EDC light. I finally have it down to the XML EDC. Just not sure if I wanna go with the Brass or Titanium. Anyone have both or carried one or the other that would give their opinion about the metals? How they wear, take punishment and heat...
I get paid to turn wrenches, walk my dog every night, camping, fishing...
I plan on using it I'm not going to baby it!
Thanks for the push!
Also thanks for being there so I can talk about flashlights like an addict and I don't get jugged (not for the flashlight part anyway) most people just don't get it.

Whew! That sent me on a reading journey... there were links that led to other great reads and they just kept going. Now I want a Lunasol 20 :) I really like the Piston Drive.
Well maybe that's the push I need. I already was leaning towards the Ti EDC because it's tough and I don't want to worry if I'm going to mess it up by dropping it.
I'd still be willing to hear an pros anyone has for Brass.

I turn wrenches, I got a TI xml edc, best god dam light ever, it ended my flashlight collecting days, whats the point of getting any others if you already have the best
I drop mine, never fails to work, got a few minor scuffs. Here is a pic of my well used light after a polish, and a clip burn.

Well this all was enough to give me the push over the edge that I needed. I just placed my order for a Titanium NW XML EDC with clip! Now the excited waiting begins:)
I guess I might just have to try a Tri in brass or maybe copper next;) just to find out for myself the answer to my question.
Thanks for the help!!

I received my order of 18350's today... got my excitement back up for my EDC:)
I got all excited and charged mine both up and labeled them. :)

I thought you might be interested in this since you'll be running rechargeable batteries with your new light. (Which I find run out quicker than regular batts.)

Anyhoo... I am using a Sunwayman V10R Ti+ right now. I kept finding the battery running out just when I needed it most. So, I got one of these dealys and keep it on my multi tool with me at all times for a quick switch out.

Delrin Battery locker. Super light and water tight military surplus item.

Cheers.

(PS. I have no affiliation with this, just something I found useful.)

ROLL TIDE!
That's very nice and handy looking, however, it appears from the description that it's a little too small to hold an 18350?

  • Internal opening: 16.80 mm or .66"
  • Internal depth: 33.30 mm or 1.30"

The CountyComm fits a CR123 snugly so 18350 would be a no-go. A similar product is made by Numyth though. It is aluminum in stead of plastic but fits an 18350 (or 18650 with the extender).

OOps. You're right. The pic is showing a 16350 which is the same as a cr123. I thought the 18350 was the same size. (I haven't received my Mac's light yet...just the batteries.) 18350 does not fit.

I'll check out your suggestion. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on these! I have a way to carry multiple spares for the 18350 but was trying to figure out how to carry one while walking the dog, hiking or something. I'll be picking one up... thanks again!

Thanks for starting the discussion on spare battery carrying!
Are you waiting to get the new XM-L2 in your light? I got a heads up that he should be getting some of these in this week. Do you happen to know if he's getting this in a neutral?

I haven't heard. I'm sure in no hurry though, so... if the XM-L2 is the way to go. I'll wait.

Same situation, I've decided to get a Titanium XML EDC with clip. the only problem i have is whether to get the cool or neutral tint. Does anyone know what colour temp is the neutral XML? I've got the 4500k triple xpg2 oveready drop in and I really like them! so i'm leaning towards netural version. Any opinion? Thanks!

Thanks for the reference to the battery carrier. I picked on up and it came in this week. Really nice little carrier especially for the price... perfect fit for the AW 18350!
Go figure I couldn't get outta there without spending more money. I ended up picking up one of their fire pistons as well. That is a cool little device!

I ordered mine a month ago and haven't seen it yet...
The only confirmation I got was from paypal and an auto confirmation from Mac's website right after I first sent payment.
I see that there isn't much communication from Mac by all of the posts here and the fact that he doesn't reply to my emails to his website or to PM's here. So I figure I won't get too worried till the 6 week wait is up like it says on his website.
