PM sent Tim. Great camping weather folks, lots of room - come on down! :D

Thanks Sandy, whatever wood you can muster up will be great. I'm sure we will be able to find some dead wood on the ground, but bringing some will give us a jump start. PS I agree with your comment about great camping weather! Yes it will be a little chilly over night and in the early AM hours, but not many bugs, good weather for an all day camp fire, and some hot chocolate! I'm really looking forward to it :)

I hear it gets dark at night there...if that's true, can I borrow a flashlight from anyone?

I pick up my new car (new to me at least) tonight and am super excited since I can now leave on Sunday as I can't afford to take Monday off which I'd have to do if I came with Bill. More importantly, my sweetie doesn't have to travel to drop me off or pick me up and I can pack all the lights and gear I want now. I'm super psyched for this trip and am really looking forward to some nerdy flashlight fun and meeting all of you in person. W00T!

The weather looks like 50% chance of rain on Friday. Don't know about the rest of the weekend yet. Tim, are you going to bring the giant tarp to put over the whole fireplace and group picinic tables?

Hi Stan, I've been watching the weather closely, and it is crazy every major weather provider has a different forecast! Weatherman - what a job - be wrong 75% of the time and still get paid! Anyway, I'm hoping the weather source that says the passing showers are limited to Friday morning, is the correct one. :)

As for the huge tarp... I don't have it. I don't recall if someone else took it or not. Or was that the one that had the huge fire under it and got a little burnt up and was thrown out at the end of the event? Not sure, but anyway you slice it, I don't have it/one. If anyone has a tarp or one of those easy-up things, and can bring it, that would be a good idea.

Hi Everyone -

Well as I posted earlier, I reached out to Eveready, Rayovac and Dorcy to support our FCW-10 event with some lights for us to use and review. While Dorcy has been extremely supportive in the past, this was the first opportunity for Rayovac and Eveready to be involved. As you may already know, Eveready sent us a box of some of their latest products. For some unknown reason Rayovac failed to respond to the invitations to place their lights up against Eveready and Dorcy during our event. Dorcy has once again given my UPS delivery man a broken back and shipped us two large boxes full of everything from spare batteries to some of their very newest products!

So thanks to both Eveready and Dorcy - everyone will have the opportunity to go home with something!

Thanks again to both Dorcy and Energizer for supporting our FCW-10 flashlight enthusiast event! We look forward to doing some real world side by side testing of your products over our 4-day event!

WOOD - WEATHER - CLOTHES...

Just a quick reminder, it just might be a bit cool as you step away from the fire, so please come with extra warm clothes and a hat. The weather reports are all over the place, and some say it might rain early on Friday, others are saying no rain at all. Who knows? However, it is better to be prepared and not need it than the other way around. If anyone can bring a tarp or an easy-up type of shelter that would be great. WOOD, wood wood, please bring it if you can, or bring some Duraflame logs if you can. The Duraflame logs make getting the fire started first thing in the morning really easy. I'm guessing we are going to have the fire going almost the whole time we are there, so we are going to need a lot of wood. If you have an axe, hatchet, log splitter, saw, etc. anything that can make sustaining a fire easier, please bring it. Thanks --

Cool, please bring them, even if we have a few small ones that will help. Some 550 cord or rope would be helpful too. Thanks Steve.

I'll try to get a bit more firewood since I don't have to bring Johnny along now. I also have a 10x10 pop up. If the forcast is for more than a passing shower I'll bring it if I still have any room.

NEW NEWS:

I just spoke with my contact at Dorcy. Since he sent the two boxes of lights and batteries to me, he just got some pre-production samples of a few of their newest lights from their R&D team. He is actually sending me (overnight mail) a few samples of these not yet released lights, so that we can do some extended testing and provide Dorcy with our feedback about them! How cool is that!! And it gets better yet, we can keep the ones he is sending us to do long term testing on them if we want! Thanks again Dorcy!!

I'm looking forward to seeing what a maker like Dorcy has in store, Tim. I've always seen them as general market flashlight makers. Would be sweet to see a really impressive piece of kit come from their engineers that could make even we jaded flashaholics go "hmmm..." :)

I'll be coming Friday around noon. Should have lots of split oak wood and can go back for some more. Hatchet and saw will be with me also. Have a huge EMS Batwing tarp that we can set up. Looking forward to this. PM to you Tim......

Johnny - I think you will like the stuff from Dorcy (and Energizer) No doubt it's mass market stuff, but they have come a long way from the old plastic 2-D cell incan flashlights you might remember!
