its roughly 50Kg so I'd better start figuring out where I'm going to put them all :duh2:

You send out packages shaped like Torpedoes and have 110# of li-on mini B0m8s? You are going to become a drone target pretty quickly. (^o^)

Btw for those of us new to lion and especially your nukes can you give us a short "care and feeding"? I have no idea how to treat an unprotected cell.

Hey RCantor,
You might try unscrewing the extension completely and check on the spring that is in the bottom. I ended up bending the spring a bit to make sure it contacts the machined portion in the bottom of the tube. When I got my X, it didn't work with Nukes until I did that. Also, In your picture, you can see a gap in the body. When it's screwed all the way in, there is no gap. That could make the Nuke not make sufficient contact, even with the magnet...
Just a couple thoughts.
The spring in there is a bit of a weak link. I think it could be heating up a bit on full, and will be like a fuse eventually. I have mentioned this to Guy and he's looking in to a replacement.

Torpedo sighted, starboard side!

Feedback to come, if the debris field does its job and we make it out alive. Now, where are those depth charges?

Torpedo landed! :D No explosion thankfully :) I took my time unpacking it, and I have to say, your attention to detail Guy is immaculate! Being my first MBI product, I am totally blown away

I agree with many of the comments already posted. The two lower modes could be a bit further apart, and the o-ring doesn't want to play nice. All and all though, a solid hit! I'll give some more impressions after more use.

Oh my gosh this thing is beautiful! Working fine with my eFest 10440, UI a bit strange but usable. Packaging is amazing, makes the whole experience much more exciting - Guy, you have outdone yourself! Haven't needed the magnet at all. The 4000K tint is great, glad you remembered! Will there be a 10440 Nuke?

Hi Guy!

I have been away from the forums for awhile, its nice to see this project has finally taken off! I have been following along from the beginning and i'm excited for you Guy and the progress you have accomplished. Heck part of the reason I check CPF is to watch this thread and see where the project stands.

The pictures look awesome! The packaging adds a nice touch!

I haven't purchased a new light in a long time but this would definitely bring me out of flashlight hibernation :)

When will the production version be available for purchase? Are you still considering other metal offerings such as titanium, copper or other options?

And, for what it's worth, I think the UI is AWESOME! Slight glitches not withstanding, the idea of turning it on by spinning it either way, and then back the opposite way for off, just works for me. I hope everyone else comes to like it too.

Will catch up on posts soon but wanted to mention this....

Earlier this week I had a report of a 10440 getting warm inside the Torpedo X, whilst the Torpedo X was off (inside a pocket).
A short while ago, I just had another.

I'm thinking this might be related to the issue reported by the workshop and that I found a few of during inspection where a li-ion would almost instantly heat up when installed and if left inside cause the PCB to short.
I tested all after that to check for it but I'm wondering if those incidents might be a "delayed" version of the same effect.

Possibly, whatever it is that's damaged and causing the issue, is very slight and over time, the heat builds up causing a similar issue.

Its hard to find the exact cause without inspecting it but I think the following makes good sense

IMPORTANT:
Just to be extra safe, when using the li-ions for the first time, please spend 10 minutes with the Torpedo X making sure the battery is not feeling warm of its own accord, even before switching it on.

It seems like the exception, and whilst I know its a few extra minutes, I really want to make sure everybody is safe and intact and around to enjoy the production version when its finally delivered.

Thank you for your understanding.

23 boxes of nukes? 50 kg? whoa! Forget the explosion proof box, you need an actual bunker!

And I thought all the nukes were shut down there. I was going to say get a PCV to store them in, but you said explosion proof. I'll keep thinking.

PVC would just up the pressure, making for a bigger explosion. Could make an impressive video, though...

Excellent notes all on the inner workings, duly noted and bookmarked. The thing about the tint made me remember something, a UV light will show different colors on the phosphor of the different tints and make identification of a bare emitter tint quite probable. Once you know what each one looks like under the UV light of course, for example...the great big MT-G2 glows a magnificent orange! :)

One would think the 2 MT-G2's are the same, the common P0 tint bin, but apparently this is not so! Notice how the XM-L2 T6 3C is closer to the Solarforce MT-G2 in tint with similar phosphor glow under the UV. Once you've visually labeled the main tint's, it's easy to spot who's who using an UV light. This P-60 drop-in came from Kaidomain and is 365nm at a little over 1.25W, visible light is low but boy does it fire up things like currency, diamonds, and trit's! :) And of course, LED's. :)

thanks for the link! I do appreciate the baseline info on LI-ons.

Guy, when you have a chance, can you give me a little specific information?
for the nukes that come with the Torpedo-X and the cottonpicker single mode (100ma) charger and tips or anomalies to watch out for?
for using the nuke, is there an easy way to know that it's time to pull it for low voltage?
if it won't maintain high setting is that the indicator perhaps? or is it still usable for a while at lower levels?

does anyone have runtimes on the various modes with the nuke and or nimh AAA?

mine just hit new york so hopefully not much longer. strange that it went from Japan all the way past me to New York
