I just got the Nitecore p12.

Worked at first. But I noticed if I shook the light back and forth the light would flicker off. Mind you I did not shake it hard, I merely swiveled my wrist around with the light in my hand. Because the light wassnt working I then tapped it in the palm of my hand. Again it would flicker and then remain off, and I would have a hard time getting it to work again.
i then got Amazon to give me a replacement, as Edisonbright, the company I purchased it from has no real contact information. I left them a phone message, and nothing. Used the email address on their website.. Doesn't work.
the replacement light I received ALSO flickers if I swivel my wrist. Wtf?
In the description Nitecore neglected to mention that this light is to only be operated while secure on a silk pillow!

I emailed nitecore about the warranty. They told me to get in touch with Edisoncamera, the US distributor, I emailed them.... No answer.

i feel like I've been conned. The package touts a 5 year warranty. But their distributors sure don't care. Can't blame them, they most likely go out of businesse constantly replacing shotty lights.

has anyone else had dealings with faulty p12 , nitecore products or Edisonbright/ Edisoncamera ?

I cant say i've had a problem with it, but i did purchase a P12 just this week (received today) from edison bright. I did notice the warranty card wasnt filled out or signed by edison. Makes me wonder if they are even an authorized distributor. Mine is incredibly durable and i have no flicker at all. Hopefully someone at edisonbright gets back with you soon.

Amazon has the A-Z guarantee, I'm sure they will make it right. You don't need to deal with anyone else.

I can understand if this bad experience has turned you off of Nitecore, but they aren't any worse than the other Chinese manufacturers, in my experience. Any of them can send out a bad light or two...there are plenty of examples of people abusing Nitecore lights (including me, to an extent) with no problems at all. Generally it will fail early, or not at all. Just chock it up to bad luck...it happens.

First on Edison Bright. I've dealt with them before with no problems. Don't know if they've changed hands, but my experience was good.

Now on to your P12.
The reverse polarity ring requires that you use a button cell battery. I'd be interested in what battery your using and if you attempted using another brand of battery? By your description of the intermittent flashing, it sound like the battery is breaking contact when shaken.

I was thinking it might be the battery also. In any case I'd be interested in taking one off your hands

Nitecore is correct.
You should go through your distributor first if it is a recent purchase.
This also makes it easier on you.

If you bought it on Amazon, from anybody, you can return it quite easily.

When emailing a company, you have to give them a chance to respond,
especially during the holidays.

You might need to use a button top cell, not a flat top cell.
There is a chance you are dislodging your battery from making good contact.

Make sure the head is on tight. I have a P12 and I changed the battery and it quit working. After some head scratching I figured out that I had loosened the head when I removed the tail piece to replace the battery, It doesn't take much of a twist of the head for it to quit working. Like others have said make sure your battery has a button top because of the reverse polarity protection ring.

Other then the incident with the head I have had no problems with my P12.

I bought the P12 through Edison Bright/Amazon as well. The light just stopped working at some point. It may have taken a 2-3 foot drop onto the floor... I had it on my window sill and i think that might have happened. The light only worked in moonlight mode. I contacted Nitecore and they told me I needed to go through Edison bright. I told them EB had no contact information and no way I could figure out how to get in touch with them. They finally gave me EB's email address. EB was unresponsive. 3-4 months ago I emailed them.. still no response. Check out the contact info page on their website...

Nitecore told me to ship the light to them (in China) and they sent me a new light 2 1/2 weeks later though. Nitecore handled it well. i would not recommend going through EB...

I've probably purchased over 20 Nitecore lights in the past year, both for myself and a few for gifts. Not one light has had a filled out warranty card. Just keep your receipt, or like I do with scanning the receipt and warranty card and filing it in the box the light came in.

Make sure the tailcap assembly ring is tight, take off the tailcap look inside the tailcap you will see a metal ring with two dimples. I'm not sure if to tighten you twist clockwise or counter clockwise some tailcaps are different, this is one of if not the most frequent issues flashlights owners will have with some lights during the course of ownership because when you twist the tailcap on and off to change batteries it may loosen that ring.

Oh and small needles nose pliers or tweezers is best to tighten down the ring.

Counter clockwise lossens it on my 2015 p12. I already have mine apart. I am still trying to figure out how to disassemble the head :)

The P12 uses the same physical reverse polarisation protection mechanism as my EC25 which caused contact problems with flat top batteries like the Eagletac 3400mAh I was using back then.

With a Leatherman I removed the plastic protector ring and the problems stopped, this is how it looks after the small operation:

Because there's only a spring at the negative pole it needs to be firm enough to keep the battery pressed against the positive contact, for instance with my Nitecore TM15 the four little flat springs are so weak that the light also flickers when I tap the light in my hand because the batteries loose contact at the positive end.

I have been carrying my Nitecore P12 for almost 2 months now with no problems. Liked it so much I bought 3 more and gave them out as X-mas presents.
