Turnkey - Malkoff MD2 - M61 - Hi / Low ring received.

I like American made lights, but a lot of lights that I have purchased from various manufactures have been sub-par in the fit and finish department including beams, grit, metal shavings, reliability. Some were poor design, some are just sloppy production, some are poor QC, some are all 3. I have even tried buying them again at a later date, fresh, with the same results in the overall quality and or reliability department. Some may have noticed Im rather vocal about poorly implemented production runs, bad QC or if I feel a manufacturer is just letting it slide. I want American lights made well. Period. I tend to hold them to a higher standard. Believe it or not, I have received more lights with legitimate gripes that I haven't posted about than the ones that I have, in almost a knee jerk reaction of patriotism....Not wanting to admit a supposedly "CPF worthy" USA made light just didn't cut it...

That said, the Malkoff MD2 I have received is EXCEPTIONAL. The fit and finish is excellent, all the parts are uniform and cleanly machined. The inside contacts are perfectly centered and evenly potted. The hi / low ring works flawlessly out of the box, which has not been my experience multiple times from other brands. Emitter is perfect, beam phenomenal. Output is great. The price was $127 shipped which is unarguably a bargain for the light you're receiving. I was initially worried about the weight. I don't know if it was by design or pure luck, but the heft of the flashlight feels absolutely in tune with the obvious toughness factor. It's not overly heavy, it's a very good balance of heft and solid. I wouldn't hesitate throwing it in for backpacking. It's well worth the extra couple ounces. It's a tank, it supersedes other lights in the same price range significantly. It even shames some much pricier lights. Its Made In The USA.

"To put it simply, the Malkoff MD2 provides a combination of reliability, durability, and versatility that sets it apart from the competition."

I would have said ".....puts it head, shoulders, while standing on a ladder above...." - but thats just my personal take. ;) You can tell someone cared while making the light. That it was actually double checked before it left insuring a top product. That, in my mind, is not only what sets Malkoff apart, but from wha I can tell, sets them above...Im thoroughly impressed and thats a rather difficult thing to pull off.

Fantastic Job by Mr. & Misses Malkoff.

If you haven't got one get two. If you have one or more get another. If you can't afford one, sell your other lights.

These are the types of American companies I like to tell people about.

Remember, two is one and one is none ... so I got about a dozen of 'em :D

My shrimp boat sank awhile back.....Forrest is poor......if I was making what I was then, I'd literally order 5 more and make it an even 6.

I definitely miss my MD2. I'm glad you're enjoying yours Forrest....congrats!

Thanks! Sell some lights man....

They are a good quality light! Definitely worth it to own a few. ;)

If you are a CPF'er and have the means.....with the price, there is no excuse.

I am stingy handing out praise, but I have also produced product and know how hard it is.

This is nothing short of stellar work.

Going to be getting TWO Hound Dog 18650s. Plan to order by the end of the month (perhaps sooner if my house sale closes early!). These will be for general house duty as well as critter chasing/investigating at night in the rural area we live in (55 acres lots of fields, farmland, a pond and some wooded bits). I've never owned a warm/neutral flashlight but I am somewhat interested in those options. Should I buy one neutral and one cool? I'm afraid I might hate the neutral and regret the purchase! What do you guys think? Opinions please!

At last my HD18650 Cool has arrived. I promised I'd tell you about the tint.
On it's own it looks bright white. Compared to my Mini Turbohead (very cool) it still looks good - it makes the MTD look blue rather than white. Compared to my Neutral M4 HD it looks white and makes me think I wouldn't like anything warmer than the Neutrral HD which I think the Neutral 18650 is.
Hope that helps you WebHobbit.
The quality of the 18650 HD is fantastic, with that and my regular HD I wonder why I laid out for the X series Surefires that I have. I'm afraid Malkoff makes them look like toys.

Re those 2500mAh Keeppower's, are you able to charge them to the specified 4.35 volts, if so, which charger?

Bill
The Keeppower from IS has protection circuit which prevents it charge up to 4.35V. The unprotected one can be charged up to 4.35V using either Xtar SP1 or VP2 charger.
