Lol nice photoshop! Vinh is a lot like batman huh? Always up late, testing, building or modding flashlights, and always pushing the limits of throwers more everyday... But why? What could he want to do with all that throw... It's like he's trying to make a beam of light (maybe to project a symbol or something?) that could hit the sky and be seen for miles. And he drives pretty much a red bat mobile, just to throw off suspicion obviously. But what really gives it away is that he likes to take on joy rides when he needs to clear his head... Just what is doing or where is he going to let off a little steam? Maybe to fight crime and temporarily blind criminals in real world tourture testing with his array of newly built flashlights? So yes I think Vinh is leading a double life, but he's not batman like you think. He's the more charming & out going philanthropist Bruce, while Wayne is the real Batman always lurking in the shadows, never seen and rarely heard (which is just Vinh doing a deeper batman voice), but always around.
So, yeah, actually this is pretty interesting stuff and it's about time we nip this myth, folklore, legend or just silly story in the butt. And this deserves its own Thread so please join me as I make a new thread devoted to man, the myth, the legend.... Wayne.

Looks like the reflector needs to turn counterclockwise. TM16 reflector is centered on the led pcb using tabs at all 4 corners. I would email Vinh about it. He may be able to talk you through getting them centered. But no matter what you do, do not, under any circumstances, touch any shiny part of the reflector with anything

I did email Vinh regarding centering. His reply was "Nothing I can do abut the TM16GTvn. They are all not perfectly centered from the factory."
edit: Don't worry, I won't be opening it up at all. Would rather pay shipping both ways than screw something up!

Bummer.. Quite honestly, I believe it's unlikely that getting them even perfectly centered from where they are now would not affect throw in any NOTICEABLE way. It certainly doesn't affect output. If it was a single LED thrower with a big deep reflector then it definitely would make a difference. But the nature of these high output quad lights is that they achieve most of their throw by relatively shallow reflectors directing massive output in a general direction.
But... I also completely understand why you'd want them centered.

My question is, why would what came from factory have to do with anything as he replaced the LED's....
I emailed this, yet got no reply. Saw he was online here, but.....

He replaces the LEDs on the factory copper PCB (It's one piece that all 4 LEDs are mounted to). The reflector has tabs underneath it that sit against all 4 corners of the PCB. This is what should center the LEDs with the holes. I suppose Vinh is saying that there isn't any wiggle room between the tabs to turn the reflector enough to center the LEDs.
One thing that Vinh has demonstrated repeatedly (speaking from personal experience) is that he wants his customers to be satisfied with their purchase. He does get a ton of email (probably an understatement), and he's currently away from his computer, but he will reply. I hope all works out well.

He has been working late today (away from home) so no doubt get back as soon as he is in. If not happy he will take it back no issue.
My xhp70's are not quite perfect in the Q70 but I look at it this way, the focusing and beam is spot on . So for me it's a no issue, how is the beam? Is it actually effected ?

My TK75VNQ FIAT LUX that was born on 2-9-2016 ,does not have perfectly centered led's either. I just figured that that's how it looked after he got the beam adjusted just right. The beam is great!

Yes its about the focus of the emitters over how it looks in the reflector, they are only ever so slightly out and know its for this reason.........i know as others are perfectly centered on single . Focusing the beam is not just centering, but further forward/back in the reflector too(as you will know, just a general comment).
For me its what is OTF, dont care if they are side on :laughing: if it gives a beautiful beam, thats all what matter to me.................imho

On a multi-emitter light the beam is the only thing that should matter. Some of the leds may have to be deliberately set what looks to be a little off center in order to get the overall beam quality to look the best.

Sorry for the noob question, but how does the XPL whoop XPL HI butt?
Can any of the flashlight pros help me clarify this? Before I go and spend a bunch of cash to have some XPL swapped out of for the newer XPL HI. Much appreciated.

The xp-l PDT out perform the xp-l HI in both output and throw basically .
One advantage IMO of the HI is the tint consistency , however vinhs PDT are very nice over factory de-dome led's .
So for max throw and lumens out of both, the PDT is the choice.
