Oh I think I get it now... I sold my Lumentop... you have it. I recommend spec 2 for the U21vn... you have spec 1. I choose TK09vn over Surefire Z2.... you are Mr. Surefire. LMAO

I'm late to the party on this one, but I do agree with those who have suggested the SDMiniVN. XPG2 has a superb beam.

I also agree that the TX25C is probably not the option although the throw is amazing. The MH20 sized lights with the 1x 18650 ( SD, TX25C2 ) would offer something different to the D25Cvn and give better run time. :D

This makes sense thanks

I just really like small powerful lights, the bigger they get kind of takes the sting out of the fun for me!

I guess it comes down to useful spill aswell, would the spill vary with these lights? Say Compared to my D25Cvn which has very good spill, im not sure how the bigger reflector would affect the spill?

The other option would be to buy the other spec which I think is XPL dedome to give a different beam profile, but I do love Xpg2 Pdt.

You have the D25Cvn with same led and battery as the TX25Cvn so on 100% the runtimes will be the same for both lights.

I didn't even realise that it was the same battery, but thanks for pointing this out, I now feel it probably would be a waste of money to buy the same light with a bigger reflector

Apart from more throw, what does a bigger reflector offer?

Bigger hot spot?
More Spill?

I am not aware of what the bigger reflector will offer over the D25Cvn which has very nice spill

I've been very happy with the last 3 versions of the D25C. So of course, after Vinh posted a photo of the newest version in the Lounge, I had to order a 4th one. Went with Spec 2 in DHT, with a Spec sheet. I like the new style cooling fins. Too bad a 18350 won't fit.

I do not have the d25cvn but I can tell you the SDminivn has a nice, wiiide, and "defined" hot spot if you are one who frowns at pencil beams. It almost makes me think it would throw twice as far if the beam were more focused into a pencil beam... But what do I know?

The mh20gtvn xpg2 also gets my nod of approval for 18650 throwers but vinh doesn't make these any more. This is the ONLY reason I don't use it as much as the SDminivn xpg2.

Cool. The SDMiniVn sounds a nice light.

Would you say the beam on my D25Cvn is a pencil beam?

Im trying to define what a pencil beam looks like!

As far as throw, the SDMiniVn is still 60k lux so should be decent, does it impress??

I really like the TX25Cvn but im afraid to buy this light in case its too similar to my D25Cvn. So if I go this route I might pick the xpl pdt.

Either way looks like I might be getting both at some point.

The TX25C2vn looks to be a tad big and a tad too expensive compared to the other 2 lights.

I sold the only real pencil beam thrower I had, but here's a couple of beam shots of the closest thing I have. Just imagine an even considerably thinner beam than what you see here.

I see what you mean. I wouldn't like that either! My D25Cvn has a really nice beam in comparison! This has probably helped my decision. Its looking like the sd mini.

Can anyone comment on the sd mini size? I find it hard to gauge from a photo

If I pick TX25Cvn I will go xpl pdt. Does anyone actually have that light in xpl?

I wouldn't be surprised if no one's ordered the TX25Cvn with XPL PDT. With It being the "Throw Queen" people figure what's the point if you don't get it with Max throw. People are sometimes wrong.

The SDmini is 4.29 inches tall and weighs 3.11 ounces.

Im very tempted to order the TX25Cvn in xpl pdt.

What temp would this be?

What roughly do you think the lux and lumen figures would be?

I prefer the larger hot spot to the pencil beams also.

I just watched Vinhs video of the SdMiniVn and its hard to make out how big the hot spot is. It doesn't look at large as the hot spot on my D25Cvn but certainly looks brighter!!

The SdMiniVn is 19mm longer than the TX25Cvn but im guessing alot more bulky
