Re: Manker U22vn - ;-)

I have the U21VN with the Oslon and it's exceptional. Can't think of a light this size that would even come close to its 480 kcd. Looking forward to the specs on the SST 40 SD in this U22VN.

Light Let me run several cycle test before I grab numbers.

I have the U21vn w/ XPL that I bought from another member. I actually prefer more lumens and a bigger hot spot. It is 260Kcd.

I use my U21vn XPL a lot because of its larger hot spot.
Vinh has me on the edge of my seat as he closes in on the SST40 numbers. I would like to beamshots showing the hot spot size.

OK still no numbers yet. Its getting late. But SST40 dome on or shave dome is definitely the way to go for this light! This light with SST40 is amazing like the U21vn is with the Oslon. Is like the LED is made for this light. LOL

Re: Manker U22vn - ;-)

I do not believe a max driven XHP35 HI has more luminance than a max driven sliced dome SST-40. If it had more output and more luminance there'd be no reason to use SST-40 sliced dome.
In Koef3 tests, XHP35 HI E2 is just 4.8% less intense than dedomed SST-40 while giving 34.7% more light.
It is more efficient in terms of lm/W, but less efficient when considering cd/W.
But Koef3 cooling setup is way better than what we see in flashlights and XHP35 will suffer from that more than SST-40.
Add to that driver availability problems (to be solved for many hosts soon!), cost difference (especially driver cost) and I'm far from saying that dedomed SST-40 is obsolete.
What I said was that I expect XHP35 HI with the right driver to perform better than domed SST-40 in both cd and lm. And cd/W and lm/W as well. Because of cost - I still don't call the SD variant obsolete either. Though I'm not sure really.

C8 head diameter is 45m
MK35 head diameter is 86mm

Depth is relative to head diameter so we cant compare depth of a light that has nearly twice the diameter.

I compared width to depth ratio, not values directly. Well, actually I compared diameters of both openings. If one reflector has a 50% larger diameter than the other, but only 30% larger LED opening it must be deeper. And I can do a rough comparison without opening lights.

SST40 HD is definitely the way to go with this light. 2000 Lumen and 120Kcd! I dont think any other light put out this much lumen and throw in this size. The benefit of the 21700 Cell takes this light up another level too!

Beam is PERFECT too! I now like this light as much as the L16vn. Oslon great with its excellent throw but I still think that its still better in the U21vn where it really shines. SST40 SD does thhrow a little more but the lumen drop and the smaller hot spot did not seem worth it to me. SST40 HD is made for this light! :)

This light is so nice I think I have to make a beam shot video and make take some pictures.

Great news, Vinh and anxiously awaiting beamshots!
Great question I. D. inquiring minds want to know!
This sounds like a really practical light!
What color temperature is available?

That sounds good. How does it handle the heat? Can you run it for 10 minutes on max at room temp.?

I'm just guessing, but I can't imagine it not getting a little hot after several minutes at 2,000 lumens. But that's ok too because we expect that and it's not like a D4 that burns your hands in 5 seconds.

Can you do a beam shot of the U21VN Oslon too :)

Light handle heat very very well due to its extra mass and well design.

Re: Manker U22vn - ;-)

I am a big fan of throw but in this particular light I find the floodiest version SST40 HD to be most desirable!
SST40 SD looses too much lumen
Oslon Flat Black while INCREDIBLE in the U21vn its hot spot is no bigger in this smaller host and the throw is down from 465Kcd to 320Kcd...
Retained USB charging + the first light with 21700 4800mAh cell make this light very well rounded

That is a very nice light for its size and has good performance.

I bought a used U21vn with XPL LED. I am very satisfied with it. Cost $80 has 1650 Lumens and 260Kcd.

A little bigger than U22vn W/ SST40HD. U21vn only loses 350 lumen but gains 140Kcd.

U22vn w/SST40 HD -120kCD=692M/756 Yards

U21vn XPL -260Kcd-1020M/1115Yards

I enjoy extra size and 359 yards extra throw! :D

I really like the SST 40 HD. Nice balance of performance.
