Hey guys...
Question, I have on my keys right now a olight (i3 eos), its fine but use it alot and to turn the head all the time is a pain.

What are some good lights with a tailcap button instead of this type.

Thanks guys

Consider one of these three: the Lumintop Tool; Nitecore's Tip; or Nitecore's Tube.

I have around 6 nitecore tubes but the one I did have stop working for no reason, so I dont want to use them anymore.

Not a tail clicky, but the UltraTac K18 AAA lights have a side clicky, as well as the compelling K18 Mini 10180 flashlight. I think MecArmy also has a 10180 light with a clicky, though its beam shoots sideways, perpendicular to the battery tube.

I vote for the Lumintop Tool as well. The Nichia LED has a really awesome tint, it's one of my favorite. The Cree is a much cooler white. It's nice but I'm not super crazy about it.

TBH though I do not like a clicky for EDC. I much prefer a twisty. I had a tool with a solid end cap and now carry a Peak Eiger. I've had too many times where the button clicked in my pocket and the light was dead before I noticed.

I like the Tool because of the availability of the Nichia emitter. I have a Nitecore Tip on my keychain right now, and it works just fine, but some have reported unwanted accidental activations. I guess it depends on how much room there is around your keychain and in your pocket. Another good option is the Streamlight Microstream. It is definitely not the brightest of the bunch, but how much light do you need to see the area right in front of you. The tail switch is stiff enough that one doesn't have to worry about accidental activations as well. I have carried mine for ten years now with no problems.

I have no personal experience of it, but the new Olight i3T may fit the brief.

I just got one of these, and it is a nice light. It is, however, quite large for a AAA light. A more minor quibble is that it only has two levels of brightness, and the low level is a bit on the high side. My perfect light would have three levels -- just add a moonlight to the i3T and voila.

While it's not a clicky light the reylight mini is pretty good. 3 brightness levels and nichia 219c 4000k and it's copper for $25 on Amazon.

There is good reason for all these Lumintop recommendations. They also make this exclusive model for Massdrop at a good price. The brass is very shiny to start but will slowly gain a patina with time. It looks good next to brass keys if you have any on your key ring. While a little heavier than aluminum models, I hate aluminum for key chain applications. Aluminum can take a beating in a pocket with keys and whatever coating it has can start to look crappy in a hurry. Brass just holds up so much better.

The Nichia LED really shows colors well and it should be easier on the eyes than the cool white Olight you are using now. It has three modes and starts in low to protect night vision.

I love my Tool(s), someone posted a link above for the Massdrop offering. Massdrop also has a really awesome blue and gold titanium version, that is my all time favorite. I have the brass one, its much heavier than the titanium version.

Love AAA lights with a tail clicky. But not on my keychain. The keys, and the big split ring for the keys is almost always in the way for the clicky. So for me, the twisty's works the best on a keychain. It's smaller, and better to activate the light on the head side where it's no keys or split ring in the way.
The tool is a great aaa clicky. Got 2 tool ti's. One floody with a neutral xp-l hi, and one throwy with a neutral xq-e hi led.

My last AAA twisty was a Fenix back in 2005 (?). I still have it on my keychain so I have to agree with you 100%.

You may not have seen it in this thread but someone did post info regarding the solid tail option for the Tool. I never tried it but it looks like good planning from the manufacturer.
