For years the big volume box popped up blocking most of the screen in the youtube app. They finally "fixed" this in iOS11, but now it's back in 12. This is pretty much the most annoying thing ever.

Anyone know of a fix, or will it likely be up to an iOS update?

When article 13 of the European parliament copyright directive goes through next year we won't have access to YouTube in the EU at All. Look it up it's serious stuff. I just invested nearly £2k in equipment for one of my YouTube channels and then find this out few days ago. Gutted!

No YouTube in EU? Abbreviation comment removed...Bill
Well... where there are restrictions there are always other solutions. I ve left the UK and all the control of the system but still in the EU. Mark can you post a screenshot so I know what you mean? I don't see and I m running 12.something

Strange.

We've been using iMacs/iPhones/iPads since their inception, and never had an issue with the YouTube app like you describe.

Currently, our iMacs are running Mojave 10.14.1 and the iphones/iPads are iOS 12.1.

The small volume slider only becomes visible [across the bottom] when you touch the screen, but quickly disappears [1-2 seconds] if you don't utilize it.

That's what I want. On my iPhone it was always on the top, practically invisible. But now the big square is back, right in the center covering almost half he screen.

What advantage does the app have over using the browser?

Probably just the convenience. There's no chance of my history getting cleared or logged out like the browser. And I won't accidentally close it if I jump back and forth between tabs, and closing all, which I have a habit or doing.

I just checked with some people at work and they show the same thing, so it's not just me. I'm not sure if it's an Apple or Google thing. I'm guessing Google, needing to update the app?
