A gathering of 26650 lights with non-proprietary cells. The color rendering of the MXS beam is awesome.

Re: The 4Sevens and Foursevens Picture and Random Question Thread

Brother westfork got himself two new Maelstrom MXS's! Dude's a baller! :twothumbs

4Sevens checked all the boxes on this one. The features I wished some of the other lights had, all rolled into one package. Looking at the picture I see I didn't scrub long enough on a couple of the lights. Most of them get used every night around the farm, often with muddy hands.

Tried several different brands of 26650 cells in the MXS. We all know there is a range of dimensions for these cells.
The pictured new 4Seven, Orbtronic, ThruNite, Fenix, and orange IMR supplied with earlier 4Seven all worked. The lime green 4Seven fit but was snug. The non-proprietary Olight cell was way too large in diameter to fit. All that fit did function in the light, but I can't speak as to capacity at maximum discharge. The new 4Seven cell fit and functioned in all my other lights.

Diggin' that copper Olight. Too few good LED's, never got one.
Do have several 47's 26650's :D

I like the heft of that one and the patina has come in nicely. Problem is I have to be careful how I use it as a drop with its weight would do some damage to the copper body. The aluminum ones have their share of dents, but it would hurt more on the copper. And it came out before the proprietary cells which we really don't like for a couple reasons. We are so thankful that Jason didn't go the proprietary cell route on the MXS.

Yes on wide acceptance of 26650 cells, fantastic.

Is the Maelstrom able to be 'on' in any non turbo mode while in an energized charging dock?

I have been wondering that myself. For some reason I thought it would come on at the level it was when docked, but however I try it will come on in low when removed from the dock.

No. The light will not energize when docked.
Edit: and the dock is plugged in.
During a power failure the light will activate and function when cradled.

Thanks for the answer, not an issue in my book.
Nor is there a problem in my mind about the aspect that the Maelstrom can't be immediately turned on maximum from off. Seems like a person could turn it off at the highest 'sustained' setting then, when activated again, it would be quite bright and could be made brighter easily. Right?

Not exactly. While using the light on/off etc. it will come on in the memory mode. Once the light is docked and charging and uncradled it will come on on low, double tap and You have Turbo mode, and when powered off and back on it will come-on on High mode. Turbo is not a memorized mode. GL

Yes indeed. That particular model was unrepresented in my collection. Happily added it. Congrats on grabbing the polished Ti. Love those early 4Sevens offerings.
