This Special run is currently in progress! Maybe in May we will have thes etubes if Corona did not stopped everything.

Regarding making 18350 tubes per default, if I remenber correctly Hogo sttated it is not fun at all to assemble thes tubes. This 18500 and 18350 tubes were only available as accessory not available with any light Option.

I guess the walls would be a lot thinner making the signal wire harder to machine just right.

Why not just ditch the 16340 tube for all future runs and just make 18350 tube standard and include a plastic delrin sleeve/spacer for CR123 primary use?

Surely no thinner than the existing 18650.

When (I don't say "if") the new model comes out, it will be 18350 standard with a sleeve.
This was planned well over 2 years ago.
New light will not be backwards compatible with existing HDS as it will most likely be 2mm larger in diameter in order to negate a phuqueton (technical term for "many") of production issues that currently exist with the 18xxx size tubes.

Now, the "when".
I am hoping a planet killing asteroid doesn't hit earth first... but I'm not taking bets.
Wuhan flu (and the idiocity that came with it) crippled production timelines in a major way on many of the parts, and we don't get anything from the CCP.

Since BeCu and Stainless Steel is almost done, I would like to ask how the schedule is for the battery tubes?

Instead of a sleeve which would be immediately lost, I d prefer a pack of very cheap disposable friction tubes mostly for cr123 cells.

I mean like, all parts are there and of Stainless and most BeCu orders are processed we start with the assembly, or part xyz is still missing and it is expected end 2025...

It all depends on the machinist and if he goes in for surgery on both rotator cuffs.
These are months out regardless, unless the machinist surprises me, which he generally only does in a bad way.

Spoke with the machinist today and the 18350 and 18500 tubes will be going to the platers next week for anodizing. They will then need to be shipped back to him for a second op.

Can't give a definite date as to when they will be done as I don't know how long it will take the platers... but they are now machined so we are a step closer.

No. LOL! Once they get anodized, then they go back to the machinist for the final op... granted, that shouldn't take long but Murphy will always raise his ugly head. After that op, they come to HDS where Henry may take them and shove them somewhere I don't want them... as he is the only one who can put the signal wire in.

Am I taking crazy pills to think the 18350 HDS would beat the 18650 in terms of daily carry and being comfy to carry? Yeah 18650s and AAs give sweet runtimes, but it's a big size penalty. The 18350 will be such a slight size increase, but a (relatively) huge payback in capacity and amp handling.
Does that 2mm diameter increase include the head and tail of the light?

Seems like the tubes will be shipped right before Christmas.... Cool! Actually I do not have any Christmas Gift for myself. Therefore the schedule is perfect!

The only thing different in the 18350 tube is the inside diameter.
