Thank you for your question. The magnetic refers to the way it activates. It's located on the tail end of the light. When put together using the quick release keychain it will remain off. Once pulled off it automatically turns on. No magnetic charging or magnetic in any other way. I'm sure there is a video of this in case you needed to see it in action on YouTube and I believe on the dark sucks website.
