It would be nice to find out the accurate reason for their departure, but that may not happen. History is written by the victors, right? Doesn't make it necessarily true.

Personally I wish the experience they brought to CPF was still here, but also a subforum where the headlight enthusiasts could air/err their beliefs as well.

I posted this in another thread regarding Virgil but applies to both him and Alaric:

Apparently there were some disagreements with the site owner on the moderation of this forum. He may have decided to part ways permanently. Hopefully he'll change his mind at some point in the future and return as contributing member.

The two dudes that used to tell people what headlight bulbs were compatible with their vehicle

They would also bring back deleted posts and change words in posts to demonstrate their superiority in headlight bulb knowledge. And go out of their way to harass people.
Lol oh that's why I don't know them.

No one banned them, they can still post, just not as moderators. and now they can be ignored, but they would not be able to do anything about, which i guess does not sit well with their egos. If their goal was to just to help people looking for answers about automotive lighting, they would be still posting here, and answering questions, but they ran this section as their personal message board. look how many threads are locked in this small section alone? probably more than the rest of the forum combined,

Of course so much of this thread is likely speculation but thinking some consider a thread closed as a bad thing. I believe that the objective of the moderator(s) was to keep threads to the point and when the question was answered, close the thread so as not to have future viewers waste time with tangential rambling that we members are so prone to engage.

Was pride involved? Yes but wanting something that you watch over to be accurate and useful is not a bad thing.

When a person is not getting paid to provide a service, it is downright natural to not be interested in being polite, thinking.

Alaric and Virgil elected to end their efforts as volunteer Moderators here, as did other Mods. Some you may still see around, some you may not, for varied reasons not all having to do with CPF itself. Just as all the other members are individuals with their own strengths, weaknesses, and of course personal lives with all that entails, so it goes with Moderators. We didn't all operate the same just as other members don't have the same personalities. Whether a member is happy or upset to see any other member leave, the fact is that as knowledgeable folks drift off for any number of reasons, we lose some of what makes a community productive and useful. This should sadden anyone who engages in the pursuit of information here or in any online community, IMO.

Well, good for you.

Frankly, this thread should have been closed days ago. I offered the only additional info the OP is likely to get so there is no real reason to continue speculating.
