I had to laugh. I agree, the S2+ isn't a particularly FUN light, it is just a very functional piece of kit. Not too big, not to small, runs an 18650, so it has plenty of juice, where can one go wrong?

I for sure agree, though it wasn't the light itself that was boring, all my torches excite me in varying ways. It was the circumstances of the trip that were boring because they didn't give me reason to use it. Going from brightly lit city to brightly lit airport to another brightly lit city is not conducive to flashlight usage

Well I used my latest aquisition in Ernest this evening. Armytek Prime C2 with the XPG50.2, warm... Went to look at a tree removal job, lit up the trees, crowns, whole garden no problem. Pricing tree work is difficult in daylight, never mind after dark, but the C2 worked excellent.
I have swapped the stock dimpled optic with the optic that came with my C1 (20 degrees I think). It fits. But I have the full range of optics and really want to put the 5 degree one in the C2 - but it won't fit over the emitter dome.
I really don't want to remove the PCB and slice the dome, don't wanna go there. Have been thinking about widening the "emitter pocket" of the optic, with a countersink bit, just to flare it out a bit so it fit over the dome. Anyone done this? Will it ruin the optic?

Sprinkler pipe burst in a client's place and I spent Sunday running around finding leaks and valves that apparently the fire department couldn't figure out. I'm not even a sprinkler guy or a plumber. Then helping them clean up the mess and move office equipment out of the flooded rooms and basement. Whole time I was using a Streamlight Stinger 2020. This's become a favorite of mine, although I think the design needs some work since the body got a dent just from a minor bump.

From casual observation, that housing appeared(s) to me to be a rather thick Al casting, and I always assumed it would be highly resistant to being 'dented'. I'm surprised that you dented it. Where's that 'dent' located? Thx.
Yeah, I thought that too. Very soft aluminum? It got hit near the tail end on one of the narrow sides of the oval body. Pushed in the metal enough I can't get the batteries out. Seems really strange to me since the most it's ever fallen was maybe two feet onto a linoleum floor. The finish isn't even scratched.
I'm used to seeing police flashlights fall off bridges without any structural damage.

Thanx for that. I find that interesting, surprising, and a bit disappointing. I know just a very little about hard alloy extrusions, but absolutely nothing about castings or the alloys typically used, so I'm of no help. All I'll say is that would have failed my personal version of a 2-meter 'impact resistance' rating, since it compromised removal of the batt pack, even though it might not technically fail the ANSI FL1 test criteria as written.
If you're ever bored enough to try to capture that with a photo, that would be cool - although it's really the end result that matters, photo aside.

Regarding the dented Streamlight; I wonder if that aluminum either missed being heat-treated, or was heat-treated incorrectly.
There is an "O-temper" for aluminum that makes it softer than copper, if I'm remembering correctly. That could definitely dent from a minor impact.

Yesterday I pulled into a gas station to fill my tank. Upon inserting my card into the slot on the pump, I felt some resistance/bumpiness as it slid in, which didn't feel right. I pulled it out and used my PD36R to inspect the slot. I didn't see anything unusual in the slot so I assumed that it was just some random debris.
Today, I installed an electrical box for a ceiling light in my bathroom. To kill power to the line that would feed the box, that also killed power to the attic light. So I used a TN30 (a triple soda can light) to give general lighting, while I crawled under some rigid ductwork, on my belly wearing a Sofirn D25L headlamp. Coupling the two lights worked out well.
A couple of days ago in the evening I met two friends, they were going to pull a puppy out of a broken well about 3.5 meters deep, he fell there and squeaked. With them was only a 2 * AA flashlight with an incandescent lamp (very dim and the batteries seem to be almost dead) and a set of ropes. I gave them a zebra headlamp and a couple of other lanterns that I had with me. The puppy was successfully pulled out, the lid with the frame was put in place so that no one else would fall. The puppy was very fat ~5 kg, fluffy and intact. After a while, his mother came running and they left.
The optics will continue to work, but the beam may turn out to be terrible in shape and it won't be 5 degrees anymore + part of the light will be lost due to the rough surface after countersinking (it will become less bright) , a more predictable option is to shaved off the dome or change the diode itself with the board to a smaller size one .. or change flashlight itself.

I used my HDS rotary to look under my oven to see why it's slightly tilted. The previous tenants put down a new floor and only installed it halfway under the oven so the back legs are lower than the front.

I used my cr123 pak haiku to completely blind my sons & I when I forgot I had left it on medium and we had just woken up LOL. I'll make sure to use my sapphire as intended next time

Used an older light (Surefire 6p bored to 18650 with UCL glass, McClicky, Malkoff M61 and overready clip) to compare the light output with various batteries (Surefire CR123, AWRCR123, Orbtronic 16650) in a new flashlight (Surefire Tactician).

Had an admission test this last Sunday, and because of parking demands, had to park in a side street with no streetlights. When I got out it was past 6 and dark already, so I used my S21A on 50% power pointed to the floor to navigate my way around parked cars and moving cars alike. When I got to my ride, I used it at 10% to check whether anyone had tampered with it. Can never be too careful.
