Could you image if every member of CPF got together at like a gun show venue and every one brought all their flash lights for members to look at and compare.

The worlds first ever flashaholics flash light fair ????

SHOT show ... kind of ... serves this purpose, however getting a badge requires press or industry credentials.

Didn't a bunch of CPF members get together a couple years ago in England? The pictures of the gathering made it look like a lot of fun.

Yup. More than a few times in UK since 2008, almost every year. Also in New Jersey, 2021, and Australia, 2020, 2021.

There's a forum for this very topic. It's been more than a decade but I've attended a few DFW get-togethers of small to moderate scale. Propose a local/regional get-together, maybe something will happen.

Not to rain on the parade, but everyone bringing ALL their lights would kind of be an invitation to redundancy, especially in the realm of common, everybody-and-their-dog-has-one kind of lights. I intend no disrespect for widely available lights; many are really really well made and useful (for example, the Lumintop Tool v.2.0). That said, there are some really special lights that I think it would be worth drooling over: we have no shortage of custom builders whose work and craftsmanship inspire envy among us lesser mortals. There is also a case to be made for a showcase of lights that are no longer in production, or that feature some less common engineering (piston drive mechanisms for example, or Fraz Labs lights that are always labeled as being out-of-stock).

I can also see some "fun" stuff, for example a kind of shoot-out where really extreme throwers are displayed in action to dazzle the assembled multitudes, or perhaps a demonstration of just how far various good quality outdoor-oriented lights can be seen by SAR personnel (I'd personally love to know how readily some of my lights can bee seen at a distance, in case I need to signal a rescuer some day).

Thoughts?

There's over 85,000 members. Where ya gonna put 'em all?

A few years back a moderator here held a backyard gathering at his home in the country side. A barbecue was held along with a camp fire and at one point a flsshlight show off. It sounded like a good time was had by all.
