Why choose a battery with a lower mAh rating?

There are 3 working parts to a battery or cell. The electrolyte which holds the charge (power) and the anode and cathode that take the charge out of the electrolyte. If you make the anode and cathode bigger, you can take more charge out in one go but you have less room for the electrolyte so...

    Quick light maths

3 cells in series will give you around 12v and 2Ah but you will need 6Ah to last you 6 hours so you'll need to run 3 sets of those in parallel. You'll actually need 4 sets in parallel for the full 6 hours due to efficiency loss and the fact you can't run the cells totally flat. So, 12 cells in...

    Quick light maths

Sorry, you are saying you want to run at 12v a light rated at 20v. So it will be dimmer than it should be?

What happened to good 9 volt flashlights?

9v's have rubbish capacity compared to the size of the battery. Only thing I know that uses them nowadays are smoke alarms and even those are moving over to AA or built in lithium. Doubt any manufacturers would want to produce a light now that will preform far below their rivals.

How do you think about the 1.5V rechargeable Li-ion battery?

You say they don't have memory affect like NiMH, but they lose capacity over time which is kind of the same.

Ringer works perfectly. Scares the crap out of guests as they aren't used to sounds that loud and 'sharp these days. I read an article that many millenials don't even like doorbells because of the 'noise invasion' and they prefer to knock. I did have to get a new speaker for it last year...

Yes, I guess for a woman it would be different. If a torch appreciating woman wanted to call me up and breath heavily (lightly!) down the phone at me, I'd probably welcome it. 😉

Yes. Why, you want to call me? Most people reading this thread already have my number anyway. Somehow I don't think marketing people will be looking through random pictures on the Web in the hope they find a phone number to call. Anyway I get my share of those calls already.

Perhaps it will last me as long as my phone and music player have, both still going strong.
