    Multitool Recommendation

Cheers for the advice guys. I did notice the extra weight/size of the Surge, which coupled with the lack of a corkscrew is probably one compromise too many. Seems like relatively few multitools come with a corkscrew - maybe I should cut back on the wine? Mcnair55, do you know anywhere here in...

    Multitool Recommendation

Hello, this is my first post outside the light section, but I was hoping I could get a little advice on what multitool to hint at for a Christmas present... I currently carry a SAK Workchamp with me at all times, but it's recently been brought to my attention that it's not legal in a public...

    Another USB charger!

Interesting stuff - I just use a standard (wasteful) regulator on my commuter bike, although not used it for a few years now I live 25 miles from work! Made some progress with the charger - mostly assembled although just with cheap alkalines for now. Looks like I will be able to fit in a USB...

    Another USB charger!

Ah, I might not have explained very well - I wasn't thinking of totally sealing in the Eneloops, just that to change/charge them I would have to undo 4 screws. I think time will tell whether the frequency I perform that is worth the effort of squeezing in a charging circuit. Plasti-Dip is good...

    Another USB charger!

Interesting link there, Steve! I'd seen the cheap versions on eBay, but I enjoy a little bit of dabbling with electronics even if it does cost a little more. I may incorporate their findings on charging iPhones into my circuit, assuming that voltage on the data lines does not affect the charging...

    Another USB charger!

I'm thinking of 500 mA output...as for what to charge then I have a Sonim XP2.10 phone which is pretty good on battery life so rarely needs charging on trips. It would be purely as a backup for that. But my MP3 player doesn't last a full day, so the ability to regularly charge that would be...

    Another USB charger!

...but with a difference. It's something that's been in the back of my mind for a while now, but I want to build an emergency USB power supply. Primarily for when I go camping away from mains electricity - I know you can buy AA battery powered USB chargers but I'd prefer to build one powered...

OT, sorry, but yes :D http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?329718-Fenix-E01-Warm-white-mod

    I guess I'm a little jaded with LED's...

There's a certain inevitability about that remark...

    I guess I'm a little jaded with LED's...

I guess this bodes well for future availability of LF lamp assemblies for the A2 :grin2:

What lights do you have charged up and ready to go for Hurrican Sandy?

Best wishes to you guys from this side of the pond. I hope everyone is safe.

Flashlight App for Phones, How long do you dare run it?

Mine used to do that all the time, so I took a sharp scalpel, and trimmed off a few mm from the button to make it more recessed. Don't worry, there is plenty of material behind so you won't make the phone leak!

    A2 Incan

Awww, the poor thing! Look at its empty eye sockets:( I wonder whether there would be any noticeable improvement if you had a reflector without the holes? +1 for the LF HO-A2 as well.

    Just saying....

Lumens Factory sell (arguably) a better lamp assembly, for considerably less than the Surefire replacement. I've now got 4 in stock, just in case. There are probably enough of us with A2s to make it worthwhile stocking and manufacturing lamps for a good while longer.

    EDC/Work LED Light

The Sunwayman V60C might fit your bill, as it is designed to slot into a charger rather than having to remove the cells each time. A review here.
