i have cree xpe in red and they just dont have the lumens to get good throw unless you use an aspheric with a pencil thin beam
if you need a usable throw beam size you are limited to shorter ranges with them
the article mentioned aboce was indeed interesting but this is the same reflector that old-lumens tried with an sst 90 amd he said it had a large hot spot with alot of spill and not what he would call a thrower.
the RED sst90 is driven at 6 amps, the article above the sbt90 was driven at around...
I know there is a sst-90 reflector available at KD i believe. i heard from a member who tried that reflector/sst90 combo and he said it was not a spot beam, more towards a flood than spot.
so i am hoping another reflector would work better as a spot without having to go over 4in in dia.
i will...
thanks for the advice. if i proceed with it i will be very carefull reaming out the reflector and cleaning it, as i have read what a delicate process that is!!!
still hoping for someone who has done a simular swap to add their 2 cents worth???
for reflowing an led onto a pcb would you use a free flowing paste or a restictive flow one??
should a different paste be used when reflowing a led onto a copper pcb?
I have a Crelant 7G5 with an xm-l led in it
this light is a nice thrower with a tight and focused beam
questions as below:
- i am thinking of using the 7G5 reflector with a RED sst-90 emmitter, what are the chances that i will still have a simular beam / throw PATTERN (not distance!!) to the...
Re: vinhnguyen54 Maelstrom X10
how did you manage to construct this pcb.
did you you remove the top aluminum ' skin' from the old pcb and bond it to the copper piece and then mount the led?
what do you consider a good thermal adhesive?
thanks
would you happen to have a pill on hand to mod that fits uniquefire hs-802 / usa168 clone?
or, if i send you mine could you put one of your red emmitters and 3 mode drivers in it driven as hard as you think will work?( i see above you mention 2.1 amp)
what are the mode /mod options, solder fill...
SELFBUILT
WHEN you do the review on the crelant collimator head can you please include the following for us modders
- actual lens dia. and front to back thickness of lens
- coverage of the beam hot spot on throw at 100 yds, or close to it.
for example- it covers an area 30ftx30ft,etc
would be...
I am NOT being critical here, just curious.
So, the 3 mode red drop in 3-6v, 1.75 amp.
correct me if i am wrong, but if these drop ins are using cree xp-e red emmiters at 1.75 amp are they not grossly overdriven?
If so, what is the life expectancy of them and what battery(s) are you...
