I think I am cursed, I have had streetlights burn out at least 6 times over me.
I have never had problems from others when I use flashlights.
Common sense is to not point directly in eyes or into structures. If I am around sleeping people or in a theater I won't use more than 0.01-1 lumens.
If you have room in your pockets a waterproof match case can hold 1x 18650 or 2x cr123.I replace the battery in my HDS when it is half dead so I always have at least 150 hours of "medium" output that is plentey to walk around, ~5 hours of high, and weeks of moonlight.
As someone else said a maglite LED flashlight might do the trick.
I am a big fan of flood lights especially ones that put out quality light that show true colors, this is often referred to as high CRI
Peak offers the el captain ultra x which runs on one 14500 and puts out 650+ lumens, they also sell one that uses AAA size Li-ion and puts out ~425 lumens.
Yes it is true that you can't ever get more light / watt than theoretical green light. This is because light is energy and it doesn't come from nothing. In the case of a flashlight it is taking energy stored in the battery.
Watt is a fixed ammount of energy that can only be converted to a fixed...
Peak has 2AAA lights as an option or just get a Peak Eiger.
Get a #subzero and a medium optic and high CRI LED and the output should be less than 10 lumens with a runtime well over 20 hours.
Or same configuration with a QTC pill and have adjustable output starting at ~.5 lumens up to 40.
You can...
Re: Knife & Light pics. (Identify your images!)
I just got this in,
Peak eiger HiCRI SS lug
And the knife is a SS winchester that I got for $3 from a thrift shop.
I have definitely spent more on flashlights than knives, probably because I have more problems with reliability from cheap...
I went riding quads/atv in the winter with my uncle.
He was hauling a big trailer with a razor and our gear. We had the adults in one trailer and the kids sleeping in the other. I left my thrunite t10 on low tailstanding as a nightlight for two nights. We stayed late the last day and when we...
I get your point, I ran and hiked a lot in a small wilderness area in California and at one point I stepped on a large rattle snake. I learned to keep my eyes on the ground nearby and only look at a distance for short times.
Maybe for running a floody light for just a few feet and a more...
How fast are you running to need 300 lumens? I suppose if you don't bother looking at the ground tripping is a concern. IME >50 lumens of somwhat directed light is plenty, even less if it is high CRI.
