    The Surefire L1 Evolution

Slightly amazing, but nice, that they still had the parts!

    SF display question

Remember when LAPG closed these out? Very cool and very cheap.

I know what you mean. When I was taking some pictures for EG, I was shocked at how many lights had had one or more "small" mods.

    Post your Pelican case setup!

No, your memory is right on. I think they're even available as commercial products.

Thanks...yes, it is...bought it back in '98 or '99 based on a recommendation to use a P-style body with a handgun rather than the Z. Used it once and went back to the 6Z that is still part of my EDC. It has sat, and sat, and sat on the shelf since then. It had a brief stint on my wife's night...

Pics speak for themselves...this is the original SureFire "Gun Metal" finish, which is basically clear (these pictures are somewhat underexposed - in real life it is bright aluminum colored), rather than the much grayer version now called the same thing.

Collection SF - All Black! HA-BK that is...

The ones that are paint, right? I've tried those and the "aluminum blacking" that's some kind of chemical treatment sort of like cold bluing, and the paint version seems to be much more durable.

    RARE MAGLITES

Interesting thread. You inspired me to check my old 6D - it's # 41249772. I'll have to give the company a shout. IIRC, I bought it in 1988 or 1989.

No kidding. Getting some of those colors on a yellow base is seriously good use of the dyes.

I'd also be interested in information on restoring reflectors.

How many BLACK Surefire A2's were made?

Sorry - that was a ref to a natural HA one, not BK!

Re: Post Your RARE/UNUSUAL SUREFIRES: I like this pic, which is the earlier "short" 6Z (inferior to the later long tube, IMHO): http://www.gun-world.net/usa/acces/surefire/6Z&9Z.gif

Re: Post Your RARE/UNUSUAL SUREFIRES: I dug out the packaging for the light I posted the picture of above. It is in fact an M2 Centurion as Al said. The blister pack card looks like DaFab's picture below and the instruction book says M2 Centurion, rev 1-1-2000. One small detail - it has double...

    Show your Rare/Unusual SureFires - Part 1

Re: Post Your RARE/UNUSUAL SUREFIRES: Neat. Restores my faith in my memory! :D Question: I'm pretty sure this came in a plastic blister pack rather than a cardboard box. I think it also came with both P60 and P61 LAs. Does that sound right? The boxes are in the attic somewhere... :candle:

    Show your Rare/Unusual SureFires - Part 1

Re: Post Your RARE/UNUSUAL SUREFIRES: OK, if I'm reading that correctly, that's interesting - because I thought when I ordered it years ago that it was an M2 and I later decided that I had mis-remembered the model number. So this would be a pre-shock isolated bezel M2? Note the very low...

    Show your Rare/Unusual SureFires - Part 1

Re: Post Your RARE/UNUSUAL SUREFIRES: I'm not sure this qualifies as rare, but I think it might be unusual. Take a look at the clip on the early C2-HA on the bottom in the pics below. It's the only SureFire I've got with that type of clip. Any thoughts on how common those are and how long...

How many BLACK Surefire A2's were made?

BTW, I am pretty sure this thread wasn't in the master A2 thread index last time I checked - if it still isn't, it should be added.
