Good Arc 4+ Switch: Am I Alone???

I have a rev 2 with a decent switch. I did notice that the switch got a little harder to push with less tactile feedback over time but hey... that's also what my wife say about me so... no big deal right?

    Micra - is this normal?

I had a Priceton Tec Matrix headlight that also did that. The problem was with the regulator that didn't want to start-up (oscillate) with low voltage. Could be the same thing but who cares? Change the battery.

    Micra - is this normal?

This is a special built in feature to prevent/warn you from using the light with a low battery. Either that or it's not the best regulator design...

    Arc 4+ is Slightly Cool

I was playing grown up kid this weekend with RC off-road cars well into dark. One guy was doing some maintainence on his car after sunset and was having trouble seeing what he was doing. So I punched a hole in the dark with the trusty Arc4 and he said "thanks... wow, that's a bright...

    Rigel, Nichia's new LED

Re: Rigel, Nichia\'s new LED Someone ought to inform Nichia that a lot of design engineers won't use products for companies where you have to "sign-up" just to get information. None of the engineers here at my company will anyway so no Nichia components in our products...

    Problem Analysis - Peak AA

Re: Failure Analysis - Peak AA I also got an e-mail from DallasA almost immediately. Thanks very much! I revised the original post because, after re-reading it, it sounded too critical towards Peak. I wanted to point out an issue. Yes it's a problem but it's also not a huge deal to clean...

Re: Failure Analysis - Peak AA My oversight... My CMG suffered from exactly the same problem. It was so bad, I discarded the light several years ago.

    Problem Analysis - Peak AA

[edited 6/17, 1:30 PM EDT - Really not a "failure but a "problem". After re-reading this post, I think it sounded a little too harsh. I do like the Peak AA, it has some quirks as do most lights] Well, it had to happen some time and it happend to my Peak AA UV light--now one week old...

    Peak Open for business

Re: Peak Update - My Light Arrived and I forgot... It came with a Panasonic AA battery. I hate Japanese batteries so I upgraded my light with an Energizer. Come on Peak, you can get good volume pricing on a USA manufactured Energizer or Duracell can't you??

    Peak Open for business

Peak Update - My Light Arrived My black AA UV light has arrived. It's OK. The battery rattles around in there a little but what can you do? It's pretty much as advertised. Good machining, looks like a cut knurl rather than a cheezey press-on knurl. The head has facets on it so it's sort of...

Streamlight TL 1-watt vs 5-watt not so different?

The human eye has a logrithmic response to light. If you want your 1 watt light to look twice as bright, it's gonna take 10 watts to do the trick.

    Luxeon "Warm" Whites???

Re: Luxeon \"Warm\" Whites??? So warm white is really colder, right? 3000K is cooler than 5500K at least as far a blackbody radiation is concerned

    Peak Open for business

[ QUOTE ] Photonian said: Well... I just got a reassuring phone call from Peak letting me know they did receive my order. That was very professional of them I think. The young lady on the other end of the phone was polite, informative and, if I may say, sounded babe-a-licious. OK, I always...
