    Cold weather batteries?

I just checked our Sam's and they don't have the lithium Energizers. They had the e2 Titaniums, but their packaging didn't mention anything about temperature, so I don't think they'll help. Bummer. Maybe I'll check Walmart next!

    Cold weather batteries?

After work tonight I bought a couple of 4 packs of the Energizers at Target for about $10 each. Or was is closer to 11? And now I see your post that says Sam's has them WAY cheaper. I haven't opened them yet so I could still return them. Maybe tomorrow I can swing by Sam's and see if I can...

    Why stick with NiCd?

Wow! That's amazing life. It's interesting that your batteries are so resilient. One reason I brought this topic up is that my neighbor that's a motorcycle cop said he has to replace the NiCDs in his Magcharger about once a year. Because of that, I was thinking it must be the memory effect...

    Cold weather batteries?

I think I'd better try out some lithiums soon. Yes, the pull of the mountains is hard to resist, isn't it? I'm not a native, but I honestly can't imagine moving away. Hope you enjoy your Christmas visit. Good eyes, by the way, noticing that I'm coming back to CPF after a long absence. I was...

    Cold weather batteries?

Yes, I'm quickly taking up the flashaholic battle cry of "Get both!" I recently got a Streamlight TL-2 and a box of Surefire batteries, so I have that as an option as well. Last night I yanked my Minimag out of its headband strap and stuck in the TL-2. Holy cow! Now THAT'S a headlamp. But...

    Cold weather batteries?

Thanks for the link. From that chart it looks like a good rule of thumb might be to change to lithiums below freezing (0 deg. C). Does anyone have some lithium AAs they'd like to recommend?

    Cold weather batteries?

We're about to get a blast of winter here at the foot of the Rockies and it's got me wondering about trying lithium AAs instead of alkalines in a Princeton Tec Matrix 2. I did a search but wasn't able to find any info about what temperature alkalines become ineffective, so I'm wondering as a...

    Why stick with NiCd?

Thanks for the info everybody! I knew there must be some compelling reason why these excellent lights are still using NiCd's. I'm still going to get a Tigerlight, but at least I have a better understanding about why the others might stick with NiCd's.

    Why stick with NiCd?

Good point about the Li-ion batteries. They seem to be another good non-memory rechargable option.

    Why stick with NiCd?

Shopping for a rechargable light, I was surprised that the nice, expensive lights from Surefire, Streamlight, and Mag all use NiCd batteries. Tigerlight puts NiMH batteries in their's, which is what I expected from everyone. I won't buy a $100 (or more) rechargable light that uses batteries...
