    MagCharger vs Tigerlight

If I remember right, S4MadMan's MagCharger was modified with high performance batteries and a high ouput bulb. If you're talking about comparing unmodified lights, though, the Tigerlight kicks the MagCharger's butt. I have a TigerLight and my neighbor has a MagCharger. When we took out...

    The TigerLight Upgrade Thread

Eric hasn't written me back yet, so thanks for posting the email he sent you. I'm really curious about how this new bulb will perform. Obviously they're trying to make it brighter. I wonder if it will simply drain the batteries faster or if will be more efficient than the current bulb.

    New Tigerlight

[ QUOTE ] Psychomodo said: You don't think you were sold old stock do you? [/ QUOTE ] Hmmm. I don't think so, but I suppose it's possible. I got in the holiday special with free engraving, so if my light was old stock, they would have had to open the box to engrave my name on the light...

    New Tigerlight

Thanks for the photos and review Telephony and FNG! Great pictures, guys. FNG, I really appreciate the shots that show how bright the beam is every 5 minutes. I've been wondering how well it maintains its brightness during discharge, and now I know. By the way, in my first post in this...

    New Tigerlight

Roy, I started to post my mini-review in the general forum, but I thought it fit better here. I gave my impressions and pointed out some positives and some negatives. I don't have the time, equipment, or knowledge to do a full review like Norm does. As they used to say at my son's preschool...

    New Tigerlight

I believe I've read in other posts that the batteries should last about 66 minutes. About! If it was "about", shouldn't it be "about an hour"? Oh well, for some reason 66 minutes sticks in my head. Bulb life I remember being quite long, but I can't remember the number. Anyone else want to...

    Moore's Law for LEDs...Excellent Article

Re: Moore\'s Law for LEDs...Excellent Article Very interesting article. Thanks for posting it. I want to see one of those 300 lumen LEDs! And the article claims that a 5-watt Luxeon puts out 150 lumens. Doesn't SureFire claim less than half that for the L4, 5 & 6?

    New Tigerlight

My Tigerlight FBOP was delivered yesterday. What a piece of crap. Just kidding! Wow, what a light! Nicely made. Incredible throw. I didn't have much of a chance to play with it last night, but I did manage to take it to our neighborhood park and do a little taste test between the...

New AAAs a lot brighter than old ones?

I had no idea that LEDs would dim over time. That's disappointing. Maybe that's what is happening to mine. It still puts out decent light, but I've been noticing lately that I want more light. If the output is decreasing, it's been so gradual over the 2 years that I didn't notice it until...

New AAAs a lot brighter than old ones?

Penguin: Changing the battery had no noticable effect. Good idea, though. Paulr: Is it true that the AAA's LED is overdriven? For some reason I thought I remembered reading that it's underdriven. I'd be interested in Peter's thoughts on my brightness question.

New AAAs a lot brighter than old ones?

I've been a happy AAA LE owner for the past 2 years. Every chance I get, I turn someone on to these great little lights. The latest person to "see the light" is a guy I work with. After recently ordering a AA and loving it, he ordered several lights (AA and AAA) as Christmas presents. They...

    Cold weather batteries?

I just checked our Sam's and they don't have the lithium Energizers. They had the e2 Titaniums, but their packaging didn't mention anything about temperature, so I don't think they'll help. Bummer. Maybe I'll check Walmart next!

    Cold weather batteries?

After work tonight I bought a couple of 4 packs of the Energizers at Target for about $10 each. Or was is closer to 11? And now I see your post that says Sam's has them WAY cheaper. I haven't opened them yet so I could still return them. Maybe tomorrow I can swing by Sam's and see if I can...

    Why stick with NiCd?

Wow! That's amazing life. It's interesting that your batteries are so resilient. One reason I brought this topic up is that my neighbor that's a motorcycle cop said he has to replace the NiCDs in his Magcharger about once a year. Because of that, I was thinking it must be the memory effect...

    Cold weather batteries?

I think I'd better try out some lithiums soon. Yes, the pull of the mountains is hard to resist, isn't it? I'm not a native, but I honestly can't imagine moving away. Hope you enjoy your Christmas visit. Good eyes, by the way, noticing that I'm coming back to CPF after a long absence. I was...

    Cold weather batteries?

Yes, I'm quickly taking up the flashaholic battle cry of "Get both!" I recently got a Streamlight TL-2 and a box of Surefire batteries, so I have that as an option as well. Last night I yanked my Minimag out of its headband strap and stuck in the TL-2. Holy cow! Now THAT'S a headlamp. But...

    Cold weather batteries?

Thanks for the link. From that chart it looks like a good rule of thumb might be to change to lithiums below freezing (0 deg. C). Does anyone have some lithium AAs they'd like to recommend?

    Cold weather batteries?

We're about to get a blast of winter here at the foot of the Rockies and it's got me wondering about trying lithium AAs instead of alkalines in a Princeton Tec Matrix 2. I did a search but wasn't able to find any info about what temperature alkalines become ineffective, so I'm wondering as a...

    Why stick with NiCd?

Thanks for the info everybody! I knew there must be some compelling reason why these excellent lights are still using NiCd's. I'm still going to get a Tigerlight, but at least I have a better understanding about why the others might stick with NiCd's.
