    McLuxIII-PD order thread

...it last night; I cannot believe how bright it is for 580mA! I have other lights with T bin Luxeons and I run them near or just over 500mA. I guess I won the Luxeon lottery! I am *very* impressed with this light! In fact, it's the BEST small light I have! Don, thanks again! Cheers, Mike451

    A2 Aviator Bulb Life

I just got an A2 Aviator and wondered if those of you who own the one can tell me how long the incandescent will last. I know this light has a soft start, so the lamp should last longer. Is it 20-30 hours or only a couple of battery changes? Can any of you comment on how rugged it is with...

Don (McGizmo) is at it again!

Don, I have to ask you a question about your new lathe. How do you power it? We have a Hardinge tool room lathe at work and it is a 5+ HP machine that runs on 460/480 VAC 3 phase power! Did you re-wire your house to run it?? Although your closing comments are somewhat cynical, I agree...

Hello Otokoyama, Thank you for considering producing these fine reflectors! I'm interested in 2 of the "orange peel" cammed versions. BTW, I received my camless reflector yesterday. It is absolutely outstanding!! My only regret is that I did not order more of these. Thanks, Mike

    L1-E1 Mod with BB500 & R2H

Don, Another *outstanding* mod! Two questions: 1. What did you use as a potting compound? 2. How did you get it so smooth? Is it low viscosity before it cures? Can't wait for the e-can to be available in the Sandwich Shoppe! --Mike

    McLux DIY with Under-driven 5W

I received my final items to build a McLux DIY from dat2zip’s Sandwich Shoppe last week and I wanted to relate my experience. Since I had a U3U emitter, I decided to build myself a 5W McLux. In looking over the Lumileds spec sheet on the LuxeonV emitter, I noticed that it gives out a lot of...

    McLux head and E2E body?

keithhr, If you have a McLux TK, it uses the dat2zip BadBoy400. This regulator is rated at a max Vin of the Vf of the Luxeon, ~3 volts. You are probably in Direct Drive with the E2e! --Mike

    3 Watt Luxeon Star (pics)

Peter, Thanks for sharing this info with us! I thought the Luxeon III might be vaporware, but you have one (or more)! My guess on why you would continue to use the 5W running at 3W is that the Vf of three volts for the 3W vs. >six volts for the 5W means a really big current draw from the...

    McLux-5: A first draft

Don, Outstanding! You never cease to amaze! Put me down for at least one! My vote is that these heads should become a kit as soon as possible at the Sandwich Shoppe. (dat2zip, are you listening???) --Mike

Hotlips-C and D heatsinks. ALL AVAILABLE

Re: Premium Heatsinks for the Mag. Hotbeam, I wanted you to know that I received the two HotLips heatsinks Saturday in the mail, er post. They are *perfect*! It turns out that I have an older D-cell Maglite that has a larger ID (37mm), so I will need to buy a new light to mod. This gives me...
