just getting back into the "hobby?"

My Malkoff lights are over a decade old and all work perfectly. A few of my HDS lights have been back for repair. I sent my current clicky back to Henry yesterday. (No 7 second dim light when fitting a new battery - no response from the switch) Hoping it doesn't take months to get it back.

    Best Light You've Ever/Never Owned

Best, most used light - an early original 3 speed, 300lm Prometheus Alpha with warm MC-E - great runtime and the best floody beam I’ve ever seen. Its been beat to hell and has the scars to prove it and it’s an ‘old’ light in 2022 but it’s been 100% reliable and gets used every day/night.🙂👍

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Used my trusty early (3 speed only) Prometheus Alpha warm MCE light whilst working on my wife’s Camry in a dimly lit home garage. Replaced the lower control arms, front brake rotors and pads, the top engine stabilizer bar, engine oil and filter change and also replaced the worn out drivers’...

    UI Musings. And, a story.

Thanks for the post! I think we've all had those moments of stress where you need max light and you don't want to have to think too hard about how to achieve it. I thought for a second you had someone trying to steal your car! James....... :-)

    Restoring flashlights lettering (Surefire specifically)?

I use a pencil eraser (the soft type).

Clicky switches - how do you minimize the wearout factor?

Surefire 6P/M61W with twisty/momentary switch - no issues!!

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Just used my 6P/M61W 3500K to inspect the engine of my Transit van turbo diesel that was really down on power - Within 5 seconds of firing up the light I found a burst hose that sits between the intercooler and the intake manifold! Quick repair and I've got full turbo boost again!! That saved...

    Surefire E1B hotspot not centered...normal?

I've had 2 E1Bs. My first one had a perfectly centred emitter with a beautifully smooth and perfectly round hotspot - I gave this one to my Dad. My second one was terrible so it's luck of the draw I'm afraid. James.... :-)

    Advice on buying torch please.

I would suggest a Maglite 2AA LED style of light for low cost and ease of battery sourcing (both primary and rechargable) - you could get 2 for your budget. This light would get the job done - it doesn't sound like you need something fancy with millions of modes etc - just something that...

Hi ! 1st post and a question about an old surefire 3p

How about a nice ol' Malkoff M30/ M30W or M30L?? Nice upgrade for the mighty Surefire 3P!!

Do any of you use Incandescent lights anymore?

I recently won a cheap new Surefire 6P with the good ol' P60 and I still find it a useful light with decent throw. However, it will be upgraded shortly with a SS bezel ring and a Malkoff M61W! James....

    Aviator Incandescent vs LED

Good choice. The model you have is the original '4 flats' model which many here find more comfortable to hold than the newer round body version. Some say that the LEDs of the new A2 Incan are brighter but I'm not sure on that one. The 4 flats A2s definately are more desirable on the second...

    Fire-on-a-stick Review - A Layman's Perspective

LMAO. I like your option of a longer handle for increased runtimes and improved operator comfort.:hahaha: James....

Why Surefire is so slow in updating its lights?

Sorry but I don't buy this: "...the emitters they chose to use are tested and proven in there lights...they do EXTENSIVE testing to get a good mix of Runtime/Out-Put/LED Life" as a valid reason why they are slow to adopt newer technology emitters. Brands like Surefire buy their emitters in bulk...

    Crash of 2011 scores!

    3P/Clones, I get and I don't!

I know it is not a cheap option but the Malkoff VME 1 x CR123 with a M31 is IMHO a great 240 lumen light and only 2.8 inches long approx!! MD2, Ra Clicky & the little fella!!

    Malkoff 2D M@g battery options?

Yes, the newer D Mag drop ins are either: 2D (Max 3.3v) or 3-6D (Max 9.0v). The 3-6D drop ins are hands down the more popular of the two. James....

Difference between a Flashlight and a Torch?

I was talking to a guy at work about the different names used for different things around the world. He was telling me that in South Africa, they call traffic lights 'Robots' and roundabouts 'circles'.:naughty: James.....:twothumbs
