Which LED Light Started it All?

Like a few others it was the Arc AAA for me too. I had a number of incans (Streamlight Scorpion, a few princeton tecs and maglites of course), but the the Arc changed it all for me - small, unbreakable and no bulbs to burn out. A few years later I got my first high-powered LED, the Longbow Micra...

My, how far LED flashlights have come in just ~10 years

I agree it's been a wild ride and the technology now is amazing. 10 years ago we were starting to get high powered LEDs. However, just go back a few years prior to that... When I joined CPF some of the optimists were telling us that some day LEDs might compete with the incans of the days. I...

    Eagletac dealers

I bought my 2012 D25A Ti and my 2013 D25C Ti from Pacific Tactical Solutions. Excellent service both times. Guy

    One CR123 1000 lumens?

Well, I for one think that it will be possible. It just won't be what we expect - better battery, better led. Somebody will come up with something different at some point and it will change the game. I've been around here since 2001. I remember being impressed with the power of an Arc AAA. Then...

    EagleTac Titanium D-Series

Yeah, my D25A Ti does the same thing. You really have to switch fast to change modes. Not at all like my Preon Revo. I think you're right that the 25C will throw a bit better. Mine doesn't even have a low mode with a 14500. Only high and it gets way too hot within about a minute, so it's...

    The Official EagleTac G25C2 thread.

I was one of the winners in Mike's Eagletac Christmas Giveaway. It took a while to get here in Canada, but it made it through. He sent me the kit to go with it. I concur with everthing Atxlight wrote. An amazing light, very bright and very well built. All my other lights are either single AAA...

    EagleTac Titanium D-Series

Thanks for the responses guys, Bummer about the low mode on 14500's. From the forum I gathered that the 14500 allowed for low and high, which would have been perfect. Not very useful with a high mode only that gets too hot after a few minutes. Oh well, at least it's bright on primaries. Guy

    EagleTac Titanium D-Series

Got mine a few days ago. Great looking light, threads a bit gritty. Mine seems to behave strangely though. If I twist it on it goes to low. If I twist rapidly off and on, it always stays on low, even if I do it very quickly. However, if I really ram it on and off forcibly, then it switches...

If Quarks use the latest R5 emitters, why aren't they brighter?

It's funny how we get jaded so quickly. When I joined here around 8 years ago, I was impressed with my Streamlight Scorpion. 60 lumens incan. What a scorcher. Blew away my 4C Mag. Then the leds started being popular. I loved my 3 lumen Arc AAA like most of you. Then, the Luxeons arrived. In 2003...

quark mini AA & CR123 users thread

Just got my Mini 123 today. Like almost everyone else I'm totally blown away. Tint is on par with my Firefly III, EZAA and Longbow Micra, which means very white, but slightly on the warm side, compared to my Fenix E1 and Arc AAA which are very bluish. Amazingly bright on RCR123's. The AW cell...

The new little NiteCore: "EZAA" Part 2

Love mine so far. I encountered the O-ring chewing problem, but only when I used the USB battery on high. The USB battery is too short, so the threads dig into the O-ring. So if you don't use irregular sized batteries, you should be fine on that front. No problem with the Eneloops. Guy

The new little NiteCore: "EZAA" Part 2

Just received mine today. So far, works perfectly. I loaded it up with an Eneloop, no battery rattle, pretty smooth and goes from low to high quite easily. Can't wait for darkness :) Guy

How do you carry your Fire~Fly III?

I carry mine like this: I only got the FF last week, so I haven't updated the picture. I carry it where the Micra is on the picture. It's a handmade pouch that I made in a few minutes using scrap leather. I've made smaller versions and I use the one that fits the pants I'm wearing. The...

Is the FireFly the most powerful pocket led thrower?

I received mine a few hours ago. I'm quite impressed with it. My Longbow Micra was a pretty good thrower and my Streamlight Scorpion is my screamer light that used to blow everything away. From my limited testing (still not dark enough), the FF at least keeps up with the Scorpion, maybe brighter...

    Fire-Fly 3 Kicks Butt

OK, I finally did it. Paypal sent. I haven't posted much over here (guess I'm lazy), but I've been spending a lot of time on CPF for the last 5 years. I've read almost every thread on the FF series since the very beginning. All this time I've been saying "someday". To me the FF is the best...

    Brunton L.E.D. Lighter

I bought one last May. It's held up fine, but I haven't been rough on it. I like the fact that it always lights on the first try though. The flame doesn't compare to a Blazer micro torch or the new z-plus insert from the same company. I've since reverted back to either the Blazer PB-207 or the...

    Longbow Micra Waterproof?

During a recent fishing trip we went out for a night swim. I took my Micra twisty with me and swam for about 10 minutes. The whole time the light was turned on and was always fully immersed. Max depth was about 5 feet. No problems whatsoever Guy
