Do you carry a flashlight during the day?

I carry my Muyshondt Aeon on my keyring —*and I always have my keys. Mostly comes in handy at night when I forgot to grab an additional light, but daytime calls for light sometimes as well :)

    2500mAh "Eneloop" from Sanyo announced

(edit - intended this as a reply to degg) Man, I agree 100% with your statement! Though I don't think there are enough 41 (CX in my case) users out there to warrant bringing such a thing to market. Also, I suspect that since the device was made for alkalines, it would drain any NiMh lower than...

    Nextorch New Star - Impressions/Review

So, I couldn't help myself…*I kept fiddling with the switch and I finally did get it to pop off…* I didn't really number this in the best way. So, 3 is a plastic bit which mates with 2. It just fits very tight, and keeps the switch held on. 1 is a spring which I pulled out a bit for the...

    Nextorch New Star - Impressions/Review

I'm very much interested in the K1 as well. I think that it and the Magic Max are probably going to join my New Star at some point. I know the Magic Max is quite outdated, but a CR2 light with a clicky? Even if it is a reverse, count me in… Yeah! I actually think I may have misread the...

What light feels perfect in your hand?

I have tiny hands, and I think the E1B is about perfect for me. On the big end of 1xCR123A lights, most of the smaller ones are still pretty comfortable, but the E1B hits the sweet spot.

    Nextorch New Star - Impressions/Review

...wall, however, and in practical use, the beam is pretty usable. Again, New Star on top, you can see that hunting around and looking at stuff…*Yeah, you can see stuff! I killed my lights early tonight and have been getting around with it, it isn't bad at all. Lower shot there was done with...

    Backup LED Flashlight

My EDC is the Muyshondt Aeon. As I don't really lead a dangerous, light-hungry lifestyle, EDC for me basically serves as backup - for the sun, the subway lights, the elevator lights, whatever. At night, I carry an E1B/Backup as my primary, the Aeon then becomes my backup light. I usually have...

Your Next Conquest: Now and Tomorrow Edition

Last was a while ago, some Romisen or other… Next would be the NexTorch New Star I just ordered from Going Gear. Already shipped, so I'll be putting this thing through its paces soon… Future? Going all out on a Ra Clicky, once I get the funds.

    small Pila charger problem

Just wanted to say 'welcome,' greetings from Silver Spring - and glad you're getting your issue resolved. I hadn't heard about this problem, will have to keep it in mind if I ever pick up one of these chargers…

Do LED Flashlights make you happy?

My priority is definitely in being prepared, having the right tool for the job etc. But I will say that in a world that feels like everything just degrades into cheaper and cheaper simulacra of what once was, sometimes a good tool is more than a good tool. Having something that feels solid, well...

What P60 drop in with 1- 123A battery?

I believe you're correct that you'll need M30/M31… The '3' vs '6' lines up with the Surefire model naming, which lines up with the voltage (approx. 3v from 1xCR123A, 6v from 2xCR123A, 9v from 3xCR123A…). Can't help you on runtime, as I don't (yet) have one myself, but at least you're headed in...

    Compact lights: CR123 vs. CR2

Would love to see the values calculated for Muyshondt (Aeon vs Nautilus)… Anyone? I have the Aeon, and while I have used some of the smallest CR123A lights, that extra bit of shrinkage in the CR2 makes it the largest format I personally would consider for a keychain light. Wider than a AAA...

Light for in-car storage and use

Definitely let us know what you think! I bought mine for a bike light but never got around to putting it to that use. But it's gotten plenty of use anyway, I love it for macro photography in the woods, and it works pretty nicely as an around-the-houser as well!

    Runner's Light

Do you specifically want a flashlight that you'd hand-hold and run with? Because if not, perhaps wearing a Glo Toob Lithium might work? 360º, various flash and steady modes, runs on a CR123A. Think it would suit your needs pretty well…

    New Nitecore EZ AA

Dang! I was planning to snag up some EZs in the future, but not digging the lack of brass, the lack of tripod hole, or the new UI. Guess I'll be buying from the Marketplace instead… I too don't really think this sort of UI is exactly 'EZ,' but hopefully it works out for them.

I figured out how to make my Quark malfunction!

...who finds working in ASM far easier to manage than high level code? I think there's something to be said for having such a limited instruction set…*I'll take ANSI C over C++ and ASM over ANSI C any day! Well, okay, not any day, it clearly depends on the task at hand. I don't really think...

    Charging Eneloop batteries

Re: BC-700 and Eneloop Questions I use the same setup, works pretty well, and the cost is low. Even 700ma is a fairly low charge rate, .37C assuming the min capacity of an AA Eneloop at 1900mAh. I have charged them at the 200ma many a time, simply out of forgetfulness (200 being the default)...

    the Micron 30 (/w Glock 30)

I'm not a gun person by any means… but that's a nice setup, I love the clean, modular nature of the 'rail,' and that looks spectacular.

    Possible close call…?

Thanks, I'm glad I noticed then. The sooner I can ditch these Energizer cells, the better…! I forgot to mention, the cell was not terribly hot. It was definitely much warmer than any of the other cells (though, again, two of them were at discharge… but it was much warmer than the other charging...

    Possible close call…?

...else making the noise. Also, no smell that I can detect… But, is it possible that my 'pffft!' noise was indeed coming from one of my cells? It's not exactly a behavior that I've heard of before…*Part of me hates to be paranoid, but the other part of me realizes that caution is a good thing…
