TSA On The Lookout For "Tactical" Flashlights

Interesting. For the first time ever a security guy in Australia picked up and looked at the front end of my A2 when getting on a flight to the USA two weeks ago. The TSA in San Francisco though didn't even notice it. Also it's about time those morons enforced some existing rules on lithium...

Where are some decent shops or online stores to purchase lights in Australia?

Surefire costs double the USA retail price in Oz and unfortunately Surefire has the nasty policy of not letting their dealers sell to other countries. Check CPF for the Surefire dealers in Hong Kong though because I think they ignore the SF sales policy. Thus far I haven't found any place in...

Surefire A2 Owners - What's your bulb life?

I've got a few Surefire A2's and use them a lot, especially the white A2's. My wife uses a red A2 all the time because her eyes are sensitive at night. Lamp assembly life is not an issue. I don't think I've ever burned out an A2 lamp assembly, if I have I've long since forgotten about it. I...

Has Your Kroma Taken Your A2 Aviator's Place?

My Kroma almost took the place of my A2's until the Kroma tail switch mechanism proved unreliable - it failed after about 3 weeks of constant use. I'll be back in the USA in a few months at which time I'll send it back to Surefire for repair or replacement. Meanwhile I'd rather carry and use an...

Why is a A2 so popular?

I've got some A2's and purchased a Kroma for the multiple color output in one light. The Kroma is a very good light if you have to work in a situation requiring red or blue light but the A2 seems to be better overall than the Kroma. The colored output on the K2 is actually a better colored...

    should i be selling

The only question is whether or not it meets your needs. If it does then keep it. The value of the item once you own it is really based on how useful it is. If you use it keep it. Richard

    A2: First Impressions

What bothered me abuot all the "incandescents suck" stuff was that Size15's indicated that Surefire was all set to put out a whole series of regulated incandescents, including things like a regulated M3 and M3T...I'd love to get my hands on a regulated M3T if any of them made it out of the...

    A2: A Different Approach

I have A2's with both red and white LED's. I've also tried one of the red flip up Bushwacker filters and there doesn't appear to be a significant difference in output between the white A2 with a red filter and the A2 with red LED's. What is bothersome with the filtered output is the red plastic...

Its that time again! 2cnd Annual Surefire Wish List for '07.

    1) I want my Kroma Mil Spec. 2) That little AA Titanium Pocket Rocket that PK took to the SHOT show. 3) A regulated incandescent Surefire M3T. 4) The smaller version of the 10X...I think it's called the M1000. Richard

    IRAQ/Military Deployment lights-Sticky

Re: Light for helicopter crew in Iraq Another option might be tacticalsupply.com (aka Spyder Tactical Supply) with a CPF discount which would amount to $156 for an A2 and he has free shipping on orders over $100. Richard

    IRAQ/Military Deployment lights-Sticky

Re: Light for helicopter crew in Iraq I'm waiting for Mil Spec Kromas to be delivered too, I ordered one because I think it might be even better than an A2 to use while flying. Since I'm a civilian though I could easily get by with just red and white low beams. As is I normally carry two A2's...

    IRAQ/Military Deployment lights-Sticky

Re: Light for helicopter crew in Iraq Jumpmaster is right on the L1 and I was mistaken, apparently no yellow green option, can only get the L1 in plain green. John, that Mil Spec Kroma would definitely be fantastic although is anyone receiving them yet? I thought the original post indicated he...

    IRAQ/Military Deployment lights-Sticky

Re: Light for helicopter crew in Iraq Red doesn't mix well with NVG gear. I'd pick a white SF A2 with a green Bushwacker filter and either a yellow green SF L1 or a white SF L1 with a green Bushwacker filter. SF's yellow green LED option on the A2 and the L1 are optimised for NVG use. Richard

I have A2's in both white and red. Richard

SF A2: Calling all aircrew and mechanics

batman, In the even of cockpit lighting failure you don't need to keep a light on the panel. With older steam gauges, close both eyes and hit the panel with the high beam for a few seconds and the gauges will then glow in the dark for a while. Most newer aircraft these days though are being...

SF A2: Calling all aircrew and mechanics

Carrot, I sanded one of my red A2's but still have to cover the hotspot and use the corona for reading charts and plates. Personally I don't mind filtering the light through fingers as that is still easier to use than any of the programmable gizmo lights on the market. And Doc Jekyll from the...

SF A2: Calling all aircrew and mechanics

Thus far the A2 meets almost every need I've had, but the A2's low beam - in either the red or white versions - is normally too bright for cockpit use at night and I usually filter the low beam through my fingers to get rid of the LED's hot spot. When at home the only other light I ever need is...

    Surefire M1000

I think I want one of those M1000's...any idea how many years it will be before it's on the market? Richard

    The SF A2

batman, I hadn't thought of calling to see if that is covered with Surefire's warranty...I might try that. Thank you, Richard

    The SF A2

Batman, I just tried putting this one back together after seeing your post, unfortunately when I compared it to a good MA02 lamp, it looks like I yanked a wire out of the white stuff along with the little hat shaped piece of metal...now I think I lost the wire. Richard
