    CR123A - Slightly off-balance?

Thanks for the advice. I ran the light for several minutes and now they're both showing 40. My guess is that they are very closely matched, hovering right around the threshold between the 40% and 60% indicators on the ZTS tester.

    CR123A - Slightly off-balance?

I've got two Surefire CR123As in my SureFire 6PX Pro. They're the cells it came with. I've been keeping an eye on them, and they've stayed pretty well matched. Now, the front cell is at 40% and the rear cell is at 60%, according to my ZTS tester. Is it safe to keep running these cells, or...

    Flashlight Explosion

With primary lithiums, the voltages don't tell the whole story. You'll need something like a ZTS tester that tests the batteries under load.

    Flashlight Explosion

I'm one of those CPFers. Quite frankly, although stories like this are extremely rare, I am terrified of high-powered cells like CR123s and lithium ions. I'm just not comfortable with the risks, as small as they are. Plus, I don't want to have to worry about constantly testing and matching...

    Fried Duracell NiMH

I wonder if that's because of the thermal sensors on it?

Have you ever had a cell(s) explode or vent in an undesirable and unexpected way?

If you're concerned with battery safety, you can do what I do. Note: I might be a little too paranoid. All of my multi-cell lights are AA and AAA, and I use only Eneloops, or occasionally a lithium (Energizer Ultimate Lithium) to power those lights. I do have one CR123A light, and it uses...

CR123 Safety - While flashlight not in use?

Thanks everyone, that makes me feel a bit better about the situation. I'll keep looking for it, but I'm not as panicked about it now :)

CR123 Safety - While flashlight not in use?

What kinds of temperature extremes can these batteries handle? I'm concerned that it could be in my car or an uninsulated storage area of my house, which means it could get pretty hot during the summer. Hopefully I'll find it before then.

CR123 Safety - While flashlight not in use?

I recently misplaced my SureFire 6P LED. Aside from being upset that I lost a good flashlight, I'm concerned about the batteries in it. I use SureFire batteries, and they were both new when I put them in. I had used the flashlight a bit. So now, the flashlight is sitting somewhere, with...

    Safest CR123 Lights/Alternatives to CR123

Haven't done much posting here, but I've certainly done a lot of reading! One of the big topics of course has been the issue of venting/exploding lithium batteries, and we all know how pressure builds up in a sealed light and can blow pieces off it with serious force. And, of course, we know...
