Maglite modding problems. With pictures of my failures!

LivingDaylight, Very cool to post your failures! Its good to see not everyone is perfect. For you soldering issues, one main thing to remember is that you need to heat the area (led legs and wire or pcb) before you try to melt the solder on it. If this is done correct, the solder will...

    Myo XP to CREE

boef800, I am not sure if the Seouls are available in stars. For me using the current star and just swapping LEDs is easy enough, so I am gonna go that route. Gonna be a week or 2 before I get to it, but definetely gonna try and will post my results.

    Myo XP to CREE

Hello, I e-mailed Petzl regarding my oops and they took care of me. I actually asked if I could buy just the PCB to see what they said. I was told they don't sell parts (figured this), but was told they received a light in with a shorted wire in the battery pack and asked if it would help...

    Myo XP to CREE

boef800, I did think about the optics, but I never thought about filing down the reflector from the front (As I smack myself in the forehead....duh). The reflector should work better in this situation as long as the Cree could sit firm against it. This is because the heatsink is pressed in...

    Myo XP to CREE

eebowler, Thanks for the sympathy and the burnt part could be a diode, but it had three legs. I have been out of the SMT loop since my job is no longer working with PCBs. I purchased a new MYO today and hope to get the part number off that. Norm, thanks, it been a while since working with...

    Myo XP to CREE

Well I received my Cree's and optics today from cutter. First change on the Blaster went fine. Well after the wife went to work and the kids went to bed, I figured I would go swap my Lux in the XP to the Cree P4. The swap went great and prelimary checks went well. The Cree was noticably...

UBH RUN II ANNOUNCEMENT - update 07/05/2003

Re: UBH RUN II Thanx, but there is even to much space for that without really distorting the spring. The space "sounds" to be a good full 1/4 inch, too much for the spring to have good pressure. I could find something in the basement to remedy the problem, but I want to be sure it should work...

UBH RUN II ANNOUNCEMENT - update 07/05/2003

Re: UBH RUN II DSpeck, Today I tried again and to no avail. I even took of the o-rings to be sure it was threading on smoothly. The Arc head threads on smoothly and then comes to an abrupt stop (like I figure it should). The batteries and the spacer can still move freely inside the UBH. It...

UBH RUN II ANNOUNCEMENT - update 07/05/2003

Re: UBH RUN II Help, I am idiot mode and can't get mine to work with my LSH-P head and 2-AA batteries. I tried using the "arc spacer" and this does not work, there is a gap and makes no contact. I tried the 2-123 spacer and a 1-AA battery (not sure if I used arc spacer or not), and that...

    A small 123/LS light (Long/pics)

If these ever get made this would be the ultimate hiking light for me. I could hang one off each shoulder strap of my pack. Pleeeease consider making a bunch of these, maybe as a build to order format like the McLux, I am sure you could sell a bunch and the people are very generous in allowing...

    Luxeon Star Diving Light

Wayne, I think you should offer the light with a different headstrap. The strap should have one of those straps down the center as well to help out with the weight of the light. This would then definetly become my night work light on emergency calls. Good luck and great idea.

not a flashlight but about leds

rutcgr18, If you are looking for good onlline ordering, at my old job we used Digikey, Mouser, and Future a lot. But if you are looking for a shop, there is an electronic shop on route 34 in Derby, near Stahls (not sure on spelling) Jeep and Chrysler dealer (maybe 20-25 mins from you). They...

Legend 2AA vs minimag for luxeon?

I have a store by the name of K-mart by me that sells the Legend 2AA. A friend of mine called somewhere (I think Brinkmann) and they told him that K-mart's are a large retailer of Brinkmann flashlights.

    Heat sink pad

I used heat sink pads at my old job. We used them under transistors. A word of advice is to inspect the pad for holes that might cause the LS/O to short to te aluminum. I have not toy'd with the LS/O, but the ones I have seen are on a small PCB. If the leads are not trimmed well on the PCB...

    Inova X5 Tactical

YCLO, My X5 does seem to work against the tailcap switch as well but to a small extent. I still love the light. Doug, I have both the Mini-Mag AA and the X5, and when it gets dark enough here in CT, I will get the beam shots and post them for you.
