found a way to keep a flashlight from freezing your hand.

If you get the old ones that at just a 2mm bandage they'd work better since finger bandages are meant to be fairly thin

found a way to keep a flashlight from freezing your hand.

I've used handle bar tape as a knife handle and it works well in cold conditions (it's also nice and soft for impacts) You can have all sort of colour from black to cammo to this

Post one picture of your power-outage lights

when I get this sorted out properly I guess I could use them 900lumens for 2.5hours I'm thinking making a holder for the 6volt bulbs which could keep me going for 10hours from a 10w bulb

    Bike lights vs. Surefires

I'd go for the 10watt bike light 10watts is about the minimum for off roading with. However it should be much trouble to get a 15 or 20watt bulb if you decide you need more power. The bike light bulbs will be much much cheaper to replace if they blow during a crash.

Is this "normal" for new flashaholics?

You Guys make me feel so normal one keychain light one light on belt (QIII) one keychain knife one proper knife (UKPK) less normal might be that I'm wondering about replacing the LED on the QIII and usnig rechargables for extra light output rather then cost reasons, changing the lens for a...

Lumens Not Always Equivalent to Wattage?

This may be highjacking this thread a little but it's on the same theme this sites quotes the overdriver mr16 20watt bulbs as 485lumens (overdriven to 23watts) and the 35watt MR16bulb as 830watts (overdriven to 40watts) is this down to the higherwattage bulb being less efficient or has the...

    Medical doctor's penlight

Re: medical light recommendations I use the QIII for first aid use and it's good for checking wounds to see if there's grit in there etc but I'm not sure how good it would be at looking down someones throat. It's small enough to be ok on a headband and can fit in a pocket very well. you'll...

Anyone Using Flashlights for Mountain Biking Light?

I run a 12volt set up with MR16 bulbs (soon to be 13.2) The main expense is in the charger and NiMH batteries (20) other then that it only cost about $12 to set up One thing to remeber about making bike lights is the heat issues seem to go away once you start moving.

Which 5w bulb uses more power?

So will batteries last longer with a 5watt LED or a 5watt bulb (I know we'll need specific bulbs but I'm not great with all the differences)?

    Mag951 fit for duty !

I've just come across these lights on britishblades (search for posts by black bear) I got help from this guy when I was modding my bike lights to give a similar output and requiring help on the powersupply. This help was given when he knew it wouldn't help him make any sales. I think Cones is...

Did your bicycling hobby make you a flashaholic?

I'm not a flashlight hollic (yet) but my bike lights are a bit that way (though I need to play with overdriving the bulbs now). I do like having a good back up EDC that I can strap to the helmet incase of issues with my main lights

Need your help transforming flashlight into headlight!

You could just make one wih a bit of slim webbing and some elastic. My band has one loop which will take a QIII and another that will take torches that run on single AA/AAA cells

    Wheelchair Lighting (Self-Contained Power)

My thought would be for a rear bike light on the back, reflective tape on the sides (and back for good measure) and a 10watt light on the front. Maybe someone on here can make a mounting unit using a MR16 which could have velcro glued to on side of it. You could have the fury side of the...

What is the brightest 1x123 light ever?

Re: What is the brightest single celled light ever if you build a light storing the enerygy in a capacitor and charge that with a single cr123 does it still count I'm guessing that could be a good self defence light

    Surefire G2 vs Streamlight Twin-Task

I don't have the G2 but have played with it I'm not really a torch nut but like to have good tools. The TT is the better all rounder and so works well for me. I use the bulb for when I've lost something at night and the LEDs the rest of the time. I think I made the right choice but if I...
