delta V cut off advice on battery charger

packs are made from AA cells claiming 2700mah (better power ones like lighthound sells), 12cells in one pack so 14.4nominal and togeather a claimed 5.4ah (though I suspect it's really 5ah) My charger is this one (powerd by a PC power supply)...

delta V cut off advice on battery charger

by discharge them I do only mean a tiny amount, one gets charged the day before the other so theer is normally a slight difference in the voltage

delta V cut off advice on battery charger

true, but I might not have asked the right question. My charger does say to charge at 1/10C if possible anyway which I don't quite do but I don't give it a fast charge. If I'm just topping the battery up then I'll put it on for a while in the everning and switch it off before it's fully...

delta V cut off advice on battery charger

thanks I'm not sure what the defualt is but I will set it to that I assume it's the same for one cell as it will be for a 12cell pack

delta V cut off advice on battery charger

my multi pupose battery charger doesn't seem to be cutting off the charge cycle and I'm not quite sure why. It's putting much much more juice into teh cells then they hold and seemed to be staying at around 1.56v (charger reading my volt meter gets less from the battery maybe 1.42v or so) for...

over discharge of NiMH (after advice)

I get an extra 0.7volts under load with the two sets in parrallel, even with one set it's still overdiven (13.9volts) The cell didn't fall to the floor, the battery holders are kept inside a bag which I strap to my bike frame (maxpedition M2) I shall keep running the packs togeather and just...

over discharge of NiMH (after advice)

about 2amps (it's a 20w MR16 bulb overdriven with 14cells) The cells are teh better power 2700 ones (which are really about 2500mah) The reason I wired them up in parrallel to begin with was to make it less hard work for the cells

over discharge of NiMH (after advice)

for cost reasons I ended up building my bike light battery pack with 2 lots of AA cells in parrallel rather then a single lot of C cells I got a problem with a cell falling out of one pack and then reconecting causing overdischarge of some cells (thankfully I check the cells quite often so it...

    silly charging question

doh I meant to say 5ah put into the pack so never fully charging it (or charging it to the capacity of the weakest cell). Thank you for your advice

    silly charging question

I was getting that impression when reading the post (sounds like you really know what your on about) I hadn't thought about the differences in my solding (for example) being a problem when charging. I've been intending to charge the pack fairly slowly anyway (the charger recomends 1/10 the...

    silly charging question

I thought it might be better to change each set on their own. AA cells were used for a number of reasons (some of which aren't an issue anymore). I have thought that if I can balance the 2 sets up so that each pack has the same capacity it might be safe to charge them togeather. I also thought...

    silly charging question

I bought a fancy charger to use with my bike lights and anything else I get that needs charging. The charger can be seen here http://www.alshobbies.com/shop/lookupstock.php?pc=6209&Desc= I've modified a PC power supply to provide me with a 12v (or there abouts) power source for the charger...

Need opinions about Lighthounds "Better Power" and Soshine!

I have a whole bunch of "better power" 2700 cells (about 30 or so in total). I got lots of info from teh origonal ebay seller I got them from and they are ok when running 2amps or a little more. They state that they wont be less then 2400mah and all but a couple were well matched

    Battery Charged Indicator

I always use in pairs so if the nipples point the same way they are charged, if they aren't then they need charging

    Running a Surefire off a 6V lead-acid battery...Possible?

I know someone flashed a 9volt surefire bulb when hooked up to 9volts power supply. it might be worth bearing in mind that it will be fragile and wont like bumps anyway a 10ah lead acide is going to be very very heavy on a bike, I used to have a 5a one and I got 14.4v and 5ah from NiMH for less...

    NiMH cell question

I know that mixing different brands is a bad idea as is mixing fully charged cells with ones which aren't. Is it also a bad idea to mix cells which have gone through a differnt number of cycles?

    modding flashlights for external battery

It may well be easier to bulb a light from scratch. I find that it's a lot of hassel to fit a battery pack to the frame and I don't see the point for the amount of light you'd get from a QIII. A pack that fits inside a bottle would be much quicker to fix if you have a carger which you can use...

Why are AA rechargeables always 1.2V?

are there any charts around on CPF that show how the voltage will sag when NiMH cells are under different loads? I assume the effect of this can be reduced if you have double the number of cells and have them in parallel.

bike light help (NiMH power supply)

I was wondering if it might just be that the cells needed breaking in (so to speak). I guess if I get a better run time on the other pack then I'll check out for bad cells

bike light help (NiMH power supply)

the cells I'm using are http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/12-x-AA-Rechargeable-Batteries-2500-mAh-Ni-MH-NEW-uk_W0QQitemZ5632164064QQcategoryZ14951QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem It's only running one bulb at this point in time. I guess getting the cheap cells will have given me a bigger chance of getting a crappy...
