    Project Aurora: Fistful of Lightning

[ QUOTE ] Ginseng said: A T4 G6.35 bulb could become a little grenade if sufficiently "annoyed". [/ QUOTE ] Holy crap. The aluminum body would protect you from harm wouldn't it?

    Project Aurora: Fistful of Lightning

This should be pretty great Ginseng. You're doing a mod much like the one that I've wanted to do for a while, yet didn't have the money for. Mine includes a slightly bigger host though. Good luck!

which light to buy and which can I mod?

I'm with car guy on this one. I own the 2MCP vector and it by no means projects a powerful beam over a mile away. You can easily get a nice beam over a couple hundred yards but by then your eyes can barely see what's there anyways. Someday I'll take my vector and a pair of binoculars someday and...

    Ken4 SuperLight beats McCulloch X990

[ QUOTE ] LEDagent said: The Ken4 isn't an HID modded Vector Spotlight. The Ken4 uses a Vector Banana Spotlight body, but the bulb is still an incandescent... [/ QUOTE ] Ah yes -- so it is. My mistake.

    Ken4 SuperLight beats McCulloch X990

Jerimoth -- the Ken4 is an HID modification to a 1mcp Vector Banana Spotlight. You can buy the original spotlight in stores but the modification was done personally by Kenshiro for fun. I imagine if you wanted to pay him enough money he would do it for you, but he did mention that this mod cost...

    Best Spot for me........

Yup that's it Nascar. I haven't physically removed the bulb but apparently it is rather easy to remove. I'll let you know once I test it for myself.

    Best Spot for me........

[ QUOTE ] Kenshiro said: However..... As in all things, perception and "looks" are important. Even though light meters might tell you it's less light, when you have a nice white light, who cares? njoy! [/ QUOTE ] Heh that's exactly it -- I just like the look of white (or blueish white) as...

Any inexpensive spots that aren't junky?

Re: Any inexpensive spots that aren\'t junky? From what I can tell some of those issues must have been improved upon because mine seems very sturdy (even in the areas you mentioned). I know that the new Vector 1.5MCP aluminum spot turned out to be very lacking in sturdiness. The aluminum is no...

Any inexpensive spots that aren't junky?

Re: Any inexpensive spots that aren\'t junky? Milkybeam -- head down to your nearest Sears or CostCo and purchase a 2MCP Vector sport spot. It's a fabulous light. Throws an incredible distance and the build quality is great.

    Best Spot for me........

I am now the proud owner of a 2mcp Banana vector from Sears. It has the glass lens and the metal reflector, which is very nice. I am very pleased with the quality of the lights and the accessories included. The color of the beam, however, is typical incandescant. I might look into a more blueish...

    Best Spot for me........

Bah this is confusing stuff. You can find the same vector light in about a thousand versions at a thousand different stores. I've found a 2mcp Vector at sears. It's the yellow plastic type but I'm wondering if it's any different from the banana vectors found at Costco...

    Best Spot for me........

Thanks for the help guys. I can't quite decide what I want/what I can get. The closest CostCo is quite a few miles away -- probably around 35, which is rather far to go for a spotlight. My options for now seem to be: A) If someone is willing, have them purchase a 1MCP Banana Vector and ship it...

    Best Spot for me........

So would you reccommend an older yellow banana model then? I'm looking at a 3mcp Banana Vector. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000077CPB/qid=1063303223/sr=8-4/ref=sr_8_4/002-0248443-3065673?v=glance&s=home-garden&n=507846 Whaddya think of those? I don't really need 3 mcp --...

    Best Spot for me........

Greetings all -- I've come across an extra 40-50 bucks and it's just itching to be spent. I've decided that my next acquisition will be a spotlight. At first I was going to purchase the Vector 1.5mcp Aluminum spot online but decided to ask here before I actually comitted. For 40-50 bucks, is...
