    Show your beat up light.

Been a while since I've browsed this thread so I thought I'd throw my most recent photo of my ARC AAA (2009) and single stage E1L (2008).

Surefire 6P/9P pocket clip. Does such a thing exist?

I had some bezel-up clips made a while ago since the products available at the time didn't quite meet my needs. They were relatively popular on the marketplace. The vendors that sell them commercially are very popular as well.

Why don't American companies build lights we want to buy?

Are they an apples to apples comparison? An incan light will always be less reliable then an LED, by their nature. Also, did you try customer service? How was your warranty experience with SF vs this unnamed chinese company?

Why don't American companies build lights we want to buy?

Same with Eagletac. Although they are much more bold about it. Read the first line in their 'About EagleTac' section on the website. To the OP, American companies make EVERY light I want to buy.

    First dream/nightmare with flashlights

I have a recurring nightmare where I am being followed down my stairs into the basement by an unseen entity, the light switch doesn't work, and every time I pull out my C3 or 6P, it's locked out and no amount of tightening the tailcap gets it to turn on. Makes me want to install Z59s on all my SFs.

    I'm Fussy About Clips

I am fussy about clips as well and when I couldn't find what I wanted I designed and had my own made up. They didn't come out exactly how I wanted, and I paid a LOT for them, but they suited my needs at the time. Sometimes you just need to either adapt to whats out there or start modding to get...

Police flashlight with built in video camera

I wouldn't count on the quality of that thing. Brite Strike is the company that sells flashlights 'made for and by police officers'. Google TM-308XR and TM-309XR. Tell me those lights by Nuwai aren't what BriteStrike is selling for $200+. Personal opinion, but that company is just milking money...

Sterling Hill Mining Museum (Pic heavy)

I think this has enough flashlight content to belong in General, if not feel free to move it elsewhere. Thursday I took a trip to northwestern New Jersey to an attraction known as the Sterling Hill Mining Museum in Ogdensburg, NJ. It was formerly an active zinc mine that closed in 1986 and...

    Swimming with surefire

I swam for about 30 minutes with my E1L in a 8foot deep pool diving and surfacing multiple times, and I wound up with water behind the TIR optic. It has since dried out but there are some spots on the inside of the lens that wont go away. Doesn't effect the beam at all though. I'm VERY surprised...

Surefire issue, What would you do?

It's is entirely subjective based on YOUR definition of quality. I don't measure quality in a tool based on appearance, or if it does come into play it's of minuscule importance. If you want a piece of art, buy art, and evaluate its aesthetic value. A flashlight is a tool. Some of them happen to...

Surefire issue, What would you do?

I'm going to start returning my Craftsman hand tools when they have forging marks left on the handles. As evidenced by this thread, when you're paying a premium for a quality tool made in the USA, you should expect nothing less then perfection. Nevermind that the first thing they are going to do...

Ever get to the point where you don't "want" anymore flashlights???

Re: Ever get to the point... I'm pretty much done. I've moved onto knives for the moment, but I keep updated on the state of LED technology because I know as soon as there are improvements in output or tint that get spread to the masses I'll be back in spending money here. Also, the new SFs are...

What to do with a useless Pentagon X3 light?

    No they are not, unfortunately.

What to do with a useless Pentagon X3 light?

Thanks for posting that link Monocrom. My buddy has been using his X3 for almost a year with the LED upgrade I performed on it. He is a steam fitter and runs his equipment pretty damn hard. Because the light engine section of the light is completely sealed off from the battery compartment, and...

Quote from the Police Heli Pilot last night

For a second there, before I saw the posting time of the OP, I thought you saw what I saw last night. Around 4am in Central NJ I heard rotor chop, thought it was a street sweeper but it persisted. Looked outside to see a police helo hovering right above my back yard. I scanned the property with...

    Do you like memory mode?

Can't stand it. I like to know exactly what mode my light will be turning on at, despite what happened to it in my pocket or backpack. 2 mode, non-memory, high first. Ideal UI for me.
