Litihium AA run time vs Alkaline AA in flashlight?

First, this should probably be posted in the "Flashlight Electronics - Batteries Included" forum. A moderator will probably move it. Second, welcome to CPF! There are a few conditions that will yield a greatly increased runtime for lithium batteries over alkaline. Namely: high current...

Arc Flashlight Going Out of Business

I am dumbfounded. I feel like a friend has died. Peter, I hope everything works itself out. Remember, you still have the love of your family and your faith, and of the CPF.

Why is there not a true CR2 size light on market?

Re: Why is there not a true CR2 size light on mark MY, I am right there with you, buddy. I think tvodrd's CR2II is the perfect EDC. I really am amazed there isn't more support for it. Have you guys seen the pic of the CR2II fitting INSIDE a FireFly? (6th post down) Now tell me that's not...

More Arc5 information.. (proto photos inside)

Will it be able to handle 2 rechargeable 123s? i.e. 8.4V input? Also, let me beat the size drum a tad more... size is the most important feature for me in an EDC. I'm very glad to see the Arc5 will be slimmer, and I'm very glad you are so focused on keeping the size down. I currently EDC an...

More Arc5 information.. (proto photos inside)

I would like to see something like the original "boost" idea: an extremely bright output that can only last 10-15 seconds before thermal issues drop it down. The rest of the levels would be calibrated normally. With high, medium, and low user-customizable, the full range would be there, and...

    Premium AA Request

Here is a quote from Peter in this thread. His post is near the bottom. [ QUOTE ] Gransee said: Actually, the Arc-AA uses the same LED as the Standard Arc-AAA, the B2S Nichia. The larger reflector blends the beam to make it look less blue. Peter [/ QUOTE ] More than an AA-Premium, I'd like...

    Introduction and Arc4 Second warranty???

Lukejt, Welcome to CPF and congrats on leaving lurking behind. Other than the 15 days you mentioned, there is no warantee on the factory seconds. I believe one of the big reasons the price is so much lower on the seconds is that you are not paying for a warantee. The fact that there may be...

    Arc4+ swich problem/2x123

Well, I was referring to the part of the switch system that resides in the tail pack. But perhaps the ultimate solution lies in the actual switch in the head.

    Arc4+ swich problem/2x123

Presumably, since the problems seems to originate from cell length variations, doubling the number of cells will double the precision required of the tail pack. Unless some fix can be found that fully accounts for wide variations of cell length, the 2x123 pack will exacerbate any existing problem.

I have a hard time believing that Peter, who is so upfront and honest with his customers, would be so slimy behind the scenes. I just don't think it's in him.

Do we know who won the 4x

Don't feel bad. I briefly considered throwing my hat into the ring. But I'm saving for a 5x, if and when it ever comes out. I may have to sell one of my superfluous organs to get one, but it will be worth it.

Do we know who won the 4x

I'm not sure a bidding war is wise (or even allowed). Maybe the winner will take the 4x to the CPF Auctions, though I know if I won I wouldn't be able to part with it. Hopefully more 4x's will come out and quench some of that thirst.

    Arc4x Runtime Comparisons

t_i_n, I think it's important to note that, as in all of your tests, the lights were not cooled (please correct me if I'm wrong). So the reason the lights drop down from level 1 so quickly is not from battery exhaustion, but rather from temperature control. In real use one's hand will...

    LSHP AA runtime

This is from the Arc FAQ, accessible at the top of the this forum: The Arc-LS has the following average run times: - 2 hours with a good Lithium 123 cell. - 1.5 hours with 2xAA alkaline - 2.5 hours with 2xAA NiMH - 3+ hours with 2xAA Lithium

    Update: Arc-AAA/AA intermittant operation

Do we need to send the whole light, or can we send just the head? I've got a spare head I'd like to use while the main one is being replaced, but I need the body for that. Also, is it okay that I removed the battery cushion and moved it to the bottom of the tube? When I first noticed the...

Arc4 2x123 pack and tail guard protos

Very nice to have something physical to look at. I'd been wondering how the tailcap would turn out. I imagined there would be more room between the switch and the guard. I thought part of the reason for making the base wider (besides tailstanding stability) was to give more room for your...
