    Fire-on-a-stick Review - A Layman's Perspective

Necro bump. Aardvark, did you soak the rag in anything? Lamp oil perhaps? I'm wondering what would give decent brightness with good runtime. Obviously something more flammable like gasoline is right out.

    Discontinued flashlight that you love

Agreed. It's my EDC–If I lose it I have no idea what I would replace it with. Nothing else is as good in all areas (small, deep clip, silent button, neutral tint, quick UI, looks good).

Flashlights in TV shows and movies (Part 4)

From the trailer for Ridley Scott's new movie "Prometheus" Looks like an Ultrafire 18WG-T60. Although different shots from the movie show a different bezel. Who knew space explorers shop at Deal Extreme? :duh2:

Man fined $1000 for shining light into sky

How harsh most of you are - especially from the flashlight community! He seems to have been ignorant of the potential danger of his actions, but there is no actual crime here. He didn't actually endanger anyone, the article states: "Fraser said the evidence is not that the offender created a...

    When You Want Long Runtime...

You're right, it did run for 90+ hours (IIRC that was a 3D mag). So on 4D it will run a little longer, on 2D it will run a little less. I don't like runtime given in days because I can't think of anyone who uses a flashlight for days on-end. Usually you just use it between dusk and going to...

    Mag abuse

I have serious doubts about that runtime/output estimate. What is your source?

It would not be 100% accurate for me to say that the Twisty is my favorite UI

Re: Twisty Hate Where did he say that others' preferences are stupid and worthy of disrespect? Kaichu, YOU shouldn't start a "forest fire" where none exists. So the guy hates twisties? Let him, he has the right to hold his opinion. Nobody gets bent out of shape when people say "I love ____"...

If you could only have 1 fixed lumen output?

FWIW: I keep reading the title of this thread as "1 fixed lumen" thinking that the thread is about having a light with 1 lumen. I suggest a change to something like "one light with fixed output"

Advice on an "entry level" Surefire

If you are looking for a pocketable Surefire I'd say to look for a used but good condition E1L or E2L, or for an incandescent the E2E-BK has great ergonomics. You can see I'm a fan of the E-series :sssh: But for bang-for-the-buck and still good quality, look at the 4Sevens Quark line.

    SureFire E-Series Addicts Unite!

Well I just ordered the HO-E1R and the EO-E1R last night. I hope one (or both) have a perfectly round hotspot just like my stock MN03 lamp. What are your observations about the beam shape on these two modules bigbluefish?

    SureFire E-Series Addicts Unite!

The e-series bug has bitten me hard lately. I have an E2E and I recently put together an E1E-BK. :twothumbs On my wish list are: E2E-BK, E2D, E2DL, E1L, and E1B. :broke: Defabricata you have some great lights. So the Aleph heads are e-series compatible? How does the Aleph III head look on an...

2009 Novatac Models being released - when??

Dear Novatac, I want this flashlight - the style is killer! I love the size (1x18650?), the protruding switch cover, the knurling, the straight body, the low profile crenelations on the black bezel, and most especially I love the conical head. Make it now!

Power outages, bad weather, some thoughts...

Can you explain why not (#9)? Edit: I understand generators produce exhaust, so obviously they should not be run inside a closed garage. But I don't understand the bit about being near windows or under a roofed porch...
