The beam at the aperture looks a lot wider than the advertised 1.5 mm.

Spyder I Pro tail cap + rubber boot replacement?

I have two questions regarding the Spyder I Pro from Wicked Lasers: 1. Has anyone here ever opened up the Spyder I Pro's tail cap? I'm really curious as to what it looks like on the inside, though I suspect it will be similar to that of many flashlights. There are two screws on the tail cap...

    Laser pointer on cell phone

SkyMall sells a portable iPhone charger that has a built-in laser pointer. It's not exactly a cell phone with a laser, though.

WL's 200 mW "Spyder I Pro" - the unbiased review!

Wicked Lasers 200 mW Spyder I Pro - the unbiased review! This product has been discontinued as of July 2010. Wicked Lasers recently sent me a Spyder I Pro for evaluation. Below is the review I promised Steve. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it. Skip to the end of this...

Psst... you're not supposed to post about shooting lasers into the sky. :)

For Aussies - 1200 lasers caught

Does the law apply to all portable lasers, or just "pointers"? There is a big difference between a portable laser and a laser pointer.

    >5w lasers in the US?

It looks like that U.S. buyers now have to use middlemen. I'm sure there are trustworthy members here that would make good middlemen. Also, is there such a thing as a postal redirection service? For example, could you have a laser sent to some place in Canada and have the folks there redirect...

new 405 nm portables from CNI

It seems that CNI released some 405 nm portables three weeks ago. One of them is an "Envee" style laser that goes up to 60 mW. I wonder if NOVAlasers is going to sell some 405 nm lasers soon. :D

Australian laser laws - what is the latest news???

I'm pretty sure that the ban only applies to laser pointers. This means that non-portable lasers could still be imported. It may also be possible to import laser pointers if you declare them as OEM equipment. If all lasers were banned, how else would Aussies get DVD burners? :)

    laser pointer ban

I don't think that lasers are banned in Australia yet. As far as I know, the ban is still being proposed. I hope that it doesn't become a law. (By the way, I'm not Australian.)

    Best 75-95mw laser?

I'm going to have to disagree with you. Wicked's products do have quality issues, and I can confirm it. Last August, I won an "Advanced" (35 mW) laser from a contest on Spectra Forum. My laser performs well for the first few minutes on fresh batteries, but its output quickly drops below the...

I powered my AAA battery laser with AA ones!

I powered my pen-style laser with AA batteries! It was rather tricky, but I managed to power my pen-style Wicked Lasers "Advanced" laser with AA batteries. Here's what I did: 1. I took a 2.5 cm x 14 cm piece of aluminum foil and wrapped it around a pen, which I used to guide the conducting...

    Nettshop.net?

I recently came across a laser company called Nettshop.net. (The website appears to be written in Norwegian.) I've seen a video (link omitted because it shows the laser being shown into the sky) of its 50 mW laser in action and it seems pretty good, but I don't know how good are its products...

Information Unlimited's LAPNRED300 - too good to be true?

Information Unlimited (Amazing1.com) is selling 660 nm portable lasers up to 300+ mW. However, the specs really make my head spin. The website lists the beam specs as <1.5 mrad at 1.5 mm. The folks at LPF (link) are saying that it is a multi-mode diode laser. The thing about multi-mode diode...

Just how powerful is a bluray laser?

From what I've heard, the 20 mW figure is the peak output. The average output of the "Sonar" is about 2 mW.

    The yellow beam

The problem about combining red and green is that it does not yield a "true" yellow beam. Actual yellow DPSS lasers are very expensive because of their very complicated process.
