Tactical Quark AA or other AA light?

Re: Fenix E21 or Tactical Quark AA? E21. Fenix quality is just as good and the simplistic UI means that you buy exactly what it says on the package. If the two levels are OK with you, then I'd choose the E21. The Quark Tactical, on the other hand, is a many-mode light (I think there's 8 or...

    Single AAA Clicky?

The Preon is mechanically almost identical to the ITP A3. The twisty version of the Preon one has exactly the same design in the head contact area, which is where your ITP A3 problems most likely came from. Try to find pictures of the Preon head circuit board and compare it to your A3. It is the...

I got my Fenix from: http://www.j2ledflashlight.com/ Good store to deal with.

    Maratac AAA problem?

Do you use one hand or both hands to twist it? I find that with the ITP, doing one handed twisting will result in flashing because I can't twist it down hard enough to avoid a momentary loss of contact when I turn it on.

    Suprise! Fenix E10 Landed - w/Pics

Is this perhaps why the light hasn't shown up at any US or Canadian dealers?

    Fenix TK21

This Russian site seems to say that the TK21 is now renamed to the LD25 and has a UI like that of the TK12 (if Google translate is working properly): http://talks.guns.ru/forummessage/232/580710.html

    Suprise! Fenix E10 Landed - w/Pics

This is pretty much exactly the 1AA light I've been looking for to give to someone. Where can I get one?

    How is the Fenix l2t?

Doesn't seem to ship to Canada. Too bad, I would have liked to get a few more.

    How is the Fenix l2t?

The Quark Mini AA isn't anywhere close to being as twice bright as the L2T. I don't have the Mini AA but on paper it's not as bright as the L2T. You need the Mini 123 to be brighter but even then the difference isn't that dramatic. The Maratac AA wouldn't be anywhere near as bright as the L2T...

Do you like PWM (pulse width modulation) controlled lights?

As long the frequency is at least 200Hz, it doesn't bother me. I can see it at 200Hz, but it hasn't been an issue. I might be able to go lower, but I don't have a light less than 200Hz so I have no basis for comparison.

Are these lights getting too complicated?

On the contrary, human factors engineering is extremely important in aviation, process controls (you don't want your operator confused at a nuclear power plant) and other mission-critical operational environments. Everyone is an expert in those environments, but they need good design. In fact...

Are these lights getting too complicated?

That doesn't make a good user interface. It may be the only feasible way of providing an interface for a light but it violates practically every principle of human factors engineering. Good designs should be intuitive so that anyone in the society that made the design can use it, or barring...

    Eagle Tac or Fenix

I don't think the PN20A (the 1xAAA) has a clicky. The EagleTac site says that it's a twisty: tighten for low, tighten further for high. The PN20A2 is the one with the clicky and loose/tighten UI.

    New Fenix LD20 XP-G R4 205 Max Lumens

I seriously hope there ISN'T a low mode like the Quarks. It's just one more useless mode to get in the way as I never use 0.2 lumens. I have a dedicated light for that. Fenix provides me with a better set of levels for my uses.

    best Single AAA ??

I noticed that with my ITP A3 when I removed the keyring chain. I thought it was too short until I re-attached it. The extra bit of chain to hold onto helps.

Maybe my A3 is part of the first batch that has it.

What lights are you looking forward to in 2010?

Fenix TK21. Simple UI, no programming / memory BS, aimed at outdoor use like the TK20. Theoretical: Fenix L2T V3. Same levels as the V2 but with a new LED for longer runtimes.

New ITP A3s now have centered emitters via centering device?

It's just marketing-speak. If I hired someone to do design work for me, I can still market it as my own design. Not saying that's the case for sure, but it is possible. Until we get to see their signed and witnessed contracts / design logbooks, we probably won't ever know.

New ITP A3s now have centered emitters via centering device?

As far as anyone can tell, ITP makes the Preon. Which means that you just don't know how much anything is shared between the two companies or even who developed this particular solution. And the regular Quarks are very similar to Fenix's offerings (particularly in UI), and 4sevens engaged in a...

New ITP A3s now have centered emitters via centering device?

Here is a pic of the centering device I'm talking about on my A3: I haven't seen that in any review pics of the A3 yet.
