    OK...so i got myself a new light...but i'm not quite happy yet

I haven't had the light on for more than 2-3 minutes at a time on high , but it did get almost too hot to hold. I don't have a temperature probe but such a high current is telling me there probably isn't enough body and fins to wisk the heat away properly. I'm thinking on doing a driver swap...

    OK...so i got myself a new light...but i'm not quite happy yet

IMR cell would probably be overkill...i was just feeling out for other users of the bt-950l or keygos ke-5 or lights with East-092....i don't know much about hacking LED lights...thanks for responding though

    OK...so i got myself a new light...but i'm not quite happy yet

Hey CPF'ers, it's been awhile since i have been on here...but I just received a Beamtech BT-950L from Tmart (supposed Keygos Ke-5 clone.) I like the light (I wish it could throw a bit more, had better o-rings..yadda yadda yadda) But It's more or less a quality light for the money IMHO. I like the...

My Shiningbeam Blaze is here. First impressions.

+1....every good thing thats been said about this light is true..got mine yesterday...floody enough in output to try on the bike, good bright spill.... but still throws far enough to see a couple hundred feet in front of me...beam tint is definitely on the cool side, but a good design and...

    Revamping an old P7

Reflector is small (about 1.5in at the wide end tapering back about 1.25in in length also) i actually tried your tin foil trick, jdp, but my big fat fingers make it a tedious process :ohgeez:so im thinking if i could make some small delicate tweezers with a pair of cotton swabs then i will...

    Revamping an old P7

ok...nobody? I've looked through countless threads on the subject and they've all pertained to machining aluminum reflectors/creating OP from SMO...i'm looking for a simple, cheap solution guys...anybody tried anything similar?

    Revamping an old P7

Hey CPF'ers got a question for ya... Bicycling season is about to start up, and i dug out my trusty bike mate, an old DealExtreme mte ssc p7-c 2-mode for some cleaning/soldering and noticed that my reflector(the old plastic coated OP, not the newer aluminum OP) has developed little spots...

    What is your current EDC?

ITP SA1 Eluma...a little bulky for pocket carry? Maybe for some...but it throws out the lumens with an AW 14500  plus, the forward clicky is handy!

    Best Home Depot/Lowes LED light?

+1 I picked up the last blue one my local Lowes had in stock...almost as bright as my 100lm MF DA1 1xAA, and it has surprising throw to boot! Not bad for $11...don't care for the twisty switch or the strobe/sos modes but, oh well

    ROP 2C Mag 3853 vs. 3854 100yrd shootout *NEW**Pictures***

Thanks for posting this! I was researching not too long ago about upgrading my ROP, but today i found this thread and was a little bummed reading your observations on the tightness of the beam for the lo compared to the hi bulbs...i definitely dont want to upgrade to a hi setup if i'm not going...

    ROP 2D questions?

The Trustfire Protected 18650's run my ROP-lo well and cost $10/pair from DX...another $10 for the charger and $12 for the pack with the 3854-L bulb....was just as bright on the stock reflector and lens before i replaced with the KD Reflector and Bora lense...but like KiwiMark said, the low bulb...

    50 inch Reflector "Monster Light"

Hi Lightsward, Was looking at your 24" searchlight project and found this thread linked...I must say, "Awesome work!" For you to create a powerful light with ordinary materials the common man has access to, kudos! I've found myself recently searching out yard sales and flea markets...

    Vector POB Focusing

I'm thinking it needs more throw, because based on Google Earth measurements, and my own eyes, it seems that i can't light up more than 300yds with the thing....but your probably right, Patriot, i could squeak out a little more distance with the current setup with no Dremel grinding, or anything...

    Vector POB Focusing

Yeah guys, i tried to take a whitewall shot to show you, but i can't seem to get the camera settings right to show what my eyes see...from a distance of 100feet, it looks like there's a tiny little <6" dot of intensity, and then the brightness kind of streaks outward from that dot a bit...

    Vector POB Focusing

Was wondering where i missed a post or series of posts awhile back that touched on focusing the POB's stock bulb...i'm thinking my light is a little more floody than it should be....didn't someone take measurements from the base of the reflector to the center or the bulb's arc? The more elusive...

    Ah...the upgrade dilemma

charge times arent so important...i usually use this light in 1-3 minute sessions, so i can go a few days(or weeks) between charging ...i usually just charge overnight...now for this: LiFePO4 26650 $8.95/cell...i'm all about saving money....are they at least a cut-above my Trustfires? And...

    Ah...the upgrade dilemma

Ahha! So i can see where the 3853H 7.2V could outshine my 3854L 6V on a solid set of batteries....i was looking at LuxLuthor's thread and it looks like i could get a nice little boost over my present lo-bulb (as i doubt my fully charged TFs are giving even an honest 8.0volts@the bulb, let alone...
