    Your NVG's should have a light you can turn on inside the optic. Have you tried fiddling with them to try and find it? Mine works pretty good out to about 25 meters or so on the darkest nights. Any brighter than that you will wash everyone else out using NVG's.

    Just curious what the opinions of the most durable single cell AA light are. The Malkoff MDC and quark series are great. Thrunite gives the Archer 1AA a 10 meter drop rating. Who has the toughest?

    My Fenix E11 and Nitecore EA1 both throw very well for a single AA. Depending on your budget I would by either again in a heartbeat. The Fenix E11 sells for around 25 bucks and the Nitecore EA1 around 60.

    BIGLOU's recommendation is a nice one. I run this exact setup as my camping light, and I also have a clip on it for bezel down carry. For EDC thought I love the e-eries and you maybe able to pick one up thats been converted or modded to an LED on the cpfmp.
