Old timers.. what are you down to in the flashlight department?

I do have a few old favourites. This is my most used and carried over the years. It’s been all over the world with me through 2 different careers. Other than my old quark, I have a couple mag lights. A 3D that was a custom build from a maker I cannot recall (purchased from the cpf...

Does the US military still use Surefire

The only guys I ever see that use flash lights are airforce. Everyone else uses headlamps. These very from black diamond, petzl and energizers. As a weapon mounted light I was issued an Insight but we all call them Surefires (even know they're not) For the record we don't even use light in...

What new features should flashlight manufacturers consider on their next model?

I really like the locater/voltage indicator on my nitecore EA1. I also love the fact that it can be turned on and utilized for a moonlight mode.

Old E-series twisty switch with a worn boot...

I have one of the old E-Series twisty's that I really like. The rubber boot is worn around the edges from rubbing in my pants pocket. What happens if I rub entirely through the rubber boot? Is there anything I can do to replace it? I'd like to keep using it as a backup to my clickys.

    4 Sevens GET Off

I purchased a preon 0 because I wanted a AAA light with a moonlight mode. It flickered and jumped around modes after the first day I purchased the light. It's funny because I've always heard about how good their customer service is, which was not case for me at all. I contacted the dealer...

What is your Surefire 6P setup?

I have two 6P's. One is sitting on my rifle with a Malkoff M61HCRI and the other is in a bored 18650 6P with a brand new M61 219. All are running the surefire twisty switch for reliability purposes. I use clicky hosts for mulit-mode dropins and twistys for single mode dropins.

Do clicky switches ever wear out?

Elzetta's clickys are good for over 10,000 cycles. I wonder how that compares to a McClicky or E series clicky?

    Unhappy with Surefire beam pattern

I do appreciate a nice beam and look it malkoff or nailbender for those.

    Unhappy with Surefire beam pattern

The light functions perfectly and throws extremely well. Sorry but a few rings in the beam don't affect function and is not a problem when in use unless your white wall hunting.
