New free tool: Look up the date of any 18650 battery by using the code on the PVC

Works with GA, you have to choose the Panasonic 4 digit code that is printed after the NCR18650GA.

Test/Review of Charger Xtar SV2 Rocket

HKJ, thank you for your time and effort on another great review! Really wish Xtar would make 2A charger with voltage readout for charging/resting voltage instead of the percentage readout.

New free tool: Look up the date of any 18650 battery by using the code on the PVC

Since it is also a Panasonic cell (Sanyo/Panasonic) as it starts with Panasonic's "NCR" then 18650GA try using those four digits under the Panasonic option.

    Keeppower 3500mAh 18650 batteries too wide?....now retrofitted.

Thanks hiuintahs, yes I forgot about the reverse battery protection scheme since my 18650 lights have springs on both ends but I do have a couple of cr123 lights that have that scheme. RI Chevy, be careful the magnet doesn't slide/shift to the side from a drop or bump and short the battery...

    Keeppower 3500mAh 18650 batteries too wide?....now retrofitted.

Re: Keeppower 3500mAh 18650 batteries too wide? Thanks for the info mark6. Never realized that button top unprotected cells had a wrapping. I thought a button was just soldered to the top. Comparing dimensions at mtnelectronics I see even the regular flat top NCR18650GA is slighly thicker than...

Which 18650 Batteries and Charger for these lights?

+1 to ChrisGarrett above. If your in the US, I would definitely recommend mtnelectonics.com for your battery and charger needs.

Panasonic 18560 battery (Made in Japan or dont have Made in Japan)

Welcome Peace2015, Those aren't necessarily fakes. Your pic is from the fasttech protected ncr18650b 4-pack. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but since they are protected they are rewrapped with what looks like an aftermarket panasonic wrapper. The original wrapper underneath might say "made...

    Test/Review of Sony US18650VTC5 2600mAh (Green)

I agree I can't find any US dealer as well and now with all the counterfeits makes it even harder.

    Test/Review of Sony US18650VTC5 2600mAh (Green)

    PALIGHT 10440s?

+1 to what ChrisGarrett said. Best option for 10440 are the Efest IMR10440 black cells available from illumn and mtnelectronics. Palight 10440 claiming 1000mah is not true. Check out this test on some 10440s including Efest, and Palight. http://forum.fotonmag.cz/index.php?showtopic=2473...

Where can you get decent 10440's

For US, try mtnelectronics(dot)com or illumn(dot)com. Both places should carry the Efest IMR10440, best cell according to HKJ's testing.

    CR2016 vs 2032 batteries

For the coin cell lights like the Photon freedom and such you can replace the 2x2016 with one 2032 no problem. Like mentioned above, the 2032 will have less voltage, 3V compared to 2x2016 (2x3V) 6V. So the 2032 will give less brightness but will have much longer runtime. When 2x2016 cells run...

    Test/Review of Led4power 5A linear driver LD-1 (prototype)

Ah ok so 2xCR123 is not recommended for linear drivers. Thanks for all your hard work HKJ, hope to see this driver soon.
  16. T

    Test/Review of Led4power 5A linear driver LD-1 (prototype)

Is this driver able to work with 2xCR123 (6V) like other linear drivers where they burn off the extra voltage? For an 18650 light it would be nice to use 2XCR123 in a pinch.

    10180 cells: Where to buy?

Thanks, really appreciate the info I had assumed Veleno Designs was at least allowing CQG to sell them but that is clearly not the case.

    10180 cells: Where to buy?

Hi Norm, are you sure the batteries are fake? I ordered a Quantum D2 for gift recently from Veleno Designs and they came with the same white 10180 cells with "veleno designs" on them. The same cell that is sold from CNQ. Maybe CNQ purchased their cells from same vendor as Steve Ku?
