Can anyone make me a SF E-series battery tube cap?

fyrstormer, I have a threaded aluminium cap that started out to be a tailcap but went wrong. It has a hole for a switch boot which could be filled with a .... switch boot. If it's any use to you PM me your address - it's free.;) OOPS my mistake - wrong end :o Colin.

    South Bend 13

This is my Southbend. I thought it was a Heavy Ten, but it looks very like this one. I wonder which model I have now - but whatever - if well looked after they are great lathes. Colin.

    Anodising woes.

I recently sent some 6082 parts to a commercial anodisers for HA nat' satin finish, and some for HA satin black. The HA black satin finish usually comes back as a nice lustrous black, but this battery tube has come back mat and streaky. All the nat' satin parts were fine, but a couple of...

    Aluminum T6061 vs. T7075?

6061 and 7075 are both fine for flashlights. 7075 costs a lot more though. Here in the UK 6061 is not so common. Our equivalent is 6082. These pages give the properties of alloys. http://aluminium.matter.org.uk/aluselect/10_summary_browse.asp Colin.

Thinking of using a manual reamer to bore a SF 6P body...more

marinemaster ... I'm very sorry to hear your 6P lost its threads:( But that is hardly surprising .... come on guys .... a bore of 18.4 mm through an o-ring groove of 19.6 mm diameter leaves a wall thickness of only 0.6 mm, not 1.2 mm, and an 18.4mm bore through the main body diameter of 23.6...

Anodising ... or should that be Agonising ...

For the uninitiated like myself getting something anodised can be problematic. Finding an anodising business willing to accept one-offs, or even small batches, can be difficult, and costs for small quantities are comparatively high. The surface finish on the alloy will make a big difference to...

    Custom Machining

You mean something like the long one in this pic'? Its 6P compatible all the way. It started out with only two flats on the battery tube, but four do give a better grip. The tailcap knurling is fine and does make it much easier to turn with forefinger and thumb whilst holding the light in the...

    Custom Machining

Hi ferretray - welcome to CPF.:) There is no difficulty in doing what you say, but it may not be cost effective depending on what you want to achieve. You will probably get more response to your enquiry if you can explain you aims a little more fully. Keep a firm grip on your...

    Will Arctic Alumina soften?

If AA gets hot enough will it soften, and allow a driver board to be pushed further into a light engine can, by pressure from the battery? Assuming that the can is not totally filled with AA. Colin.

How to cut a thin sheet of Stainless Steel

You could also consider these - http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Hand-Nibbler-Shears-Sealey-AK327?sc=9&category=250 They are a manual version of the air nibbler in 65535's post. Slow, hand aching, and fiddley, but if you clamp the sheet between straight-edges you can get a good neat cut with no...
