Older women / Younger Men trend

Benjamin Franklin recommended, generally, affairs with older women in a now famous letter to a younger man which you can find here - http://www.rjgeib.com/thoughts/franklin/franklin.html I, personally, have never bought this analysis but there is something to be said for discretion and for...

    Near fatal Burger King experience

Good parenting, there, Pydpiper, and by that I mean sending out a search party for your missing child, and your actions following. Had you not done that, this could have easily ended differently, and tragically. Your wife and child are lovely. Really. You must be very proud of them, as you...

    Undisciplined, spoiled brat teenagers...

JM - I spent a number of years earlier in life as an active duty, regular officer JAG, much of it overseas. I tried, as prosecution or defense counsel, approximately 300 courts-martial, and more administrative discharge boards than I can count. In short, for part of my professional life I...

Tragically, today I lost my best friend,

My sympathies. I was raised by my father, lost him ten years ago, and I am still pained by the memory. Treasure the time you had together. I assume you know this, since you know what tax bracket your mother's estate is in, but you need some legal assistance with that size of an estate. You...

Help me find a new Wallet!

How about a non-wallet wallet? There's this - http://www.storus.com/moneyclips.htm which I came across recently, and have been thinking about. I have used a bi-fold from Coach for a number of years, but am thinking about retiring it for something a bit smaller. I'm looking at this clip thing...

    .22 plinker pistol suggestions

I have a S&W Model 41, with both the 5 1/2" and 7" barrels. I also have an early Browning Buckmark. And I used to own a Ruger Mk II with a bull barrel and target sights. I never cared for the Ruger, but it really was a personal thing - how it felt in my hand. I like the Browning, and would...

are you ready for winter driving?

No snow or ice here on the Gulf Coast of central Florida. I check the air pressure of the tires on our cars every month, and top off as needed with a small air compressor I bought at Sears a few years ago. The temperatures are such that I don't need to switch oil grades for winter, and I check...

What flashlight do you use most often?

Most often - TnC Key-Lux AA - a few times a day. Most hours - Elektrolumens ELX-6 - I walk after dark every evening for an hour to an hour and a half. Pretty dark after dark in these parts.

    Am I a Poseur?

If you have enough sense to ask the question, chances are you are not a poseur. Most poseurs do not realize that they are poseurs. The exception would be the prior post about the bozo posing in a mirror. If you were a fraud (I can't tell you why I'm here - if I told you I'd have to kill you)...

What is your favorite underappreciated, underrated album/cd?

Underappreciated, underrated? Hmmm. Okay, all you whippersnappers out there - chew on this one. "Happy Trails" by the Quicksilver Messenger Service. One of the great live albums of all time. Late '60s San Francisco rock at its finest. Available on CD.

Sick and tired of it all

There is a cynical expression that is fairly common in the American military/industrial/intell complex that goes like this - "no good deed goes unpunished." On the other hand, there is the concept of karma. The choice is yours.

    iPod Users

I have a white nano. They do have a color screen. I'm not sure why, because it is only slightly larger than a postage stamp, but it is color. Very legible, too, even for this middle-aged guy with eyes that aren't what they once were.

Spooky music to play on Halloween

Heck, no. A great tune. Not spooky, but it sure is a lot of fun. Hmm. I wonder if Apple or somebody has a downloadable MP3 of it . . . .

    Need info on PDAs

I've had the same experience Powernoodle describes. I've used, and worn out, a couple of Palms (Pilots, and then Zires). I ended up using the small sized Day Timer, because it was fail-safe, a little smaller than a Palm, I didn't have to mess around with syncing it or worrying about charging...

    High Blood Pressure???

...the occasional cigar, etc, etc. As Dow used to advertise - I am enjoying better living through chemistry . . . . Many men are concerned about, * ahem *, dysfunction (yes, _that_ dysfunction) as a result of taking BP meds. It has never been a problem for me, and I'm told that while this was...

Spooky music to play on Halloween

Halloween, and the various antecedents leading up to Halloween, are ancient. So you need relatively old, yet spooky, music. A relatively old, and the all time spookiest piece every written, or recorded, is . . . (drum roll, please) . . . "Toccata and Fugue in D Minor", by J.S. Bach, done on a...
